After two decades of open storage, this R7V-1 Connie (N105CF) has been recently brought back to life at Santa Domingo's De Las Americas airport. The former Aerochago Connie was a regular visitor to the Miami cargo area (Corrosion corner) in the 80'ies and early 90'ies until a ban was put on by the FAA for Dominican cargo haulers in 1993. A group of Connie enthousiast from Switzerland bought the propliner and are preparing a ferry to Europe. After initial restoration work and an engine change at MDSD, she is being ferried to Opa Locka for further maintenance. A further ferry is planned to the Connie specialists at Avra Valley (AZ). And then on to Switzerland...?* Below pics show the first ferry-leg to Florida. (* in real life, N105CF never left Avra Valley. Too much trouble/corrosion was found, the Swiss purchased another C-121 and the airframe was used for spares. Recently, HARS from Australia bought the hulk and there are plans for bringing her to Australia!! ) Brakes off! to the runway. Thundering over Sta Domingo's rwy 17. Crossing some small Bahama islands, 150 miles south east of Nassau. US coast ahead! Crossing the Miami coast. Landing checklist, please! Touching down Opa Locka. Parked at the Florida Air Transport-ramp at KOPF.

Is that texture available anywhere? Bland, but ultimately useful!

There are two Aero Chago / Aerochago repaints for the Super Connie (you'll need L1049G.ZIP, L1049G_U.ZIP and R7V-1.ZIP by Manfred Jahn & Co for these). One repaint is by Marcel Ritzema (at Flightsim.com: hi-583ct.zip), the other by Rodolfo Estrella C. (at Flightsim.com: chagoconnie.zip).
At Flightsim.com also repaints of AeroChago's L-749A by Manfred Meyer ( l749aaerochago.zip) and AMSA's C-121J by Marcel Ritzema (hi-515ct.zip).
Cheers, Maarten

The paint of N105CF I did myself recently. Plan to upload it to Avsim sometime soon.

Here is the third of the three L-1049's Aerochago flew - HI-532CT. She had a little different cheat-line but I think towards 1991 or so, she had a matching color scheme to her sister ships. Is there any interest in painting her up? :-D (Any news on the aforementioned N105CF?)

Hi, here some screenshots of C-121C HI-548CT on one of the usual early morning vegetables supply flights from Santo Domingo to Borinquen in the late 80's. I made this repaint some time ago and uploaded it today to avsim and flightsim. MM
