Not sure if I'm spelling it correctly but I worked with a fellow who had been stationed at Mould (Mold?) Bay in the 50s. The station was intended as a weather station -- it was so far north that I'm not sure any country wanted to claim it. It had a runway laid out on the ice and the folks were delivered there to serve 6 month details. A large bulldozer was present to keep the runway clear but the temperatures were so low (-70F) that the machine could not be shut off for long periods. Unfortunately the runway broke up or cracked or sank so that no aircraft could land so everyone was stuck for what turned out to be 18 months. Back to the bulldozer -- the military made arrangements to drop first material to construct a shed followed by a crew enclosure for the machine. Work began simultaneously on each project with the metal building being erected and the enclosure attached. With nothing else to do quite a competition started to see who finished their respective project first. As luck would have it work was completed almost simultaneously so with nothing else to do a celebration took place with the machine being coaxed into starting and triumphantly moved toward it's new building. To everyones surprise the tractor was too tall for the entrance -- apparently measuring had not been part of the project. -- had to be there I guess.
