Just fly a Soviet airliner instead....they come pre-damaged from the factory.

As Bill says, the icons do not appear until you hover the mouse over the area (just to the left of the center console on the 2D panel). Can I have screenshot of that so I can know where to find it, please? I have been looking all over for it in 2D panel and virtual panel too. I looked at the manuals and cannot find anything that refers to it? ? Aharon

Thanks I clicked on that check and it popped out a new FSX window showing few choices such as flight planner, aircraft reference, map, button commands, etc etc but I do not see red hydraulic lettering to click on it. I guess it is missing from my panel.

Aharon,
you have to RIGHT-click on that checkmark-icon in order to open the window which shows you the status of your hydraulics among other important things of your Connie/Super Connie.

Thanks, Aharon In fact that's Item 5 under "NOTES" in Manfred Jahn's Readme! Of course the hydraulic integrity reading doesn't actually turn red until you damage the system, as with extending gear or flaps at too high a speed. Bill

Bill, Thanks but strange enough, although my L1049G came with manuals written in Microsoft Word format, there was no mention of item 5 under notes?? Must be different version I downloaded or otherwise I would have spotted it and not bothered all of you Maybe it is not in manuals for FSX version but is in manuals for FS2004 version? ? Aharon

Yes I had begun to suspect that you must be missing a lot of documentation.
Perhaps you would be best to reinstall new downloads. This is what you ought to have, all important to read.
L1049G.zip dated 05-04-2009
This has,
-readme.txt (with Note 5!) -readme.doc (ditto) -folder named L1049G_doc . This has the checklists and panel details accessible key F10 -folder named manual. This has the operating manual "L-1049G-H_manual.doc".
L1049G_U.zip dated 21-04-2009
Just some bug fixes but essential.
Super_Constellation_fde_upgrade.zip dated 10-29-2010
Not essential but recommended. This has,
-readme.txt -L-1049GH Update Manual.pdf. This is to be read in addition to, not in place of, the earlier L-1049G-H_manual. Includes revised panel details.
These zips are for both FS9 and FSX and available Flightsim.com.
Good luck!
Bill

I think I have figured out L1049G!!!! Just tested it for 1/2 hour and so far NO FAILURES. Well I have 36 minutes to go in flight and hope it will be without failures!! Also tested right click method on check mark on cockpit panel and it brought up window informing me of 100 percent full hydraulic power!! woo woo Can anyone please be kind enough to tell me that what other Cal Classic planes have built in failures like L1049G so that I would not be caught surprised because I always fly on Vatsim and I need to know in advance if I should expect failures that can cripple my planes if not flown properly not to inconvenience Vatsim controllers or other Vatsim pilots in very busy air space. So far, I know that L749 and L1049G have special built-in failure systems. What are other planes in Cal Classic, please? I have CalClassics' DC-4s, C-46s, and DC-6s that do not have special built-in failure systems. Does DC-7s in Cal Classic have built in failure systems like L1049s? Thanks to all for their very kind explanations and helpful inputs. HEY L1049 is first plane in my FSX fleet that I can pull down SUNSHADE SCREEN wooo woooo woo freeware plane with fancy sunshade screen function and also rain wiper function. WOOO WOOOOO I bet Jahn is laughing at me Regards, Aharon

Hi,
The DC-6B has failures, but you have to turn them on to activate them (click the WARN or NO WARN on the FE's Notepad gauge until it says DAMAGE). The rest of "my" planes do not have failures (Convairs, Martins, DC-6/7's, F-27, L-188, B377).

I bet Jahn is laughing at me No, but grinning, just a little. To be honest, we've all been through this. It's actually Hansi's xml wizardry that forces us to be careful with what we are doing in the Connies. Watch your speed, RPM, MAP, and that status window, and you'll be fine. Most of the time.

Cool!!!! BTW, wanna see example of what happened when engines failed in middle of my first L1049 flight (I must have unknowingly pressed wrong button accidentally for this to happen that caused engines to overdo) Regards, Aharon
