I know it's been hashed over many times here but it never involved me so I never paid mind to it. I'd like to do a second install of FS9 w/ Silver Wings. My original is installed as C:\FS9. I tried today to do a second install, and when I started the #1 CD, it went to the screen w/ the Run or uninstall option.
What am I doing wrong or not doing correctly ?
Help please' Mike

Here we go.. 1a. Rename your existing FS9.exeon the desktop to something like fs91.exe. 1b. Rename your existing FS9.exe in the FS9 installed folder on your C: drive to something like fs91.exe 2. Rename your existing FS9 install FOLDER to something like FS91. 3. Install FS9 again. Because you have renamed the original exe & folders, a new & second install will take place. DO NOT RUN YET!!! 4. Rename the NEW FS9.exe to Silver Wings or whatever. 5. Rename the NEW FS9 install FOLDER to Silver Wings. or whatever. 6. Rename the renamed FS9.exe back to the original name. 7. Rename the renamed FS9 install FOLDER back to the original name. You have now created a 2nd version of FS9 called Silver Wings! Run this new version & it will complete settings etc. OR 1. Create a new folder called Silver Wings, or whatever 2. Copy the whole contents of the existing FS9 folder into this folder. 3. Rename the fs9.exe in that folder to Silverwings.exe. 4. Copy & paste (as a short cut)the renamed Silverwings.exe 5. Go to www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library & download the registry repair tool 6. Use it to point to the new install. 7. Run the Siverwings.exe All should now be good, with 2x installs! Best of luck, Robin

I find I don't have to rename the fs9.exe file, only the FS9 folder. That is enough to trigger the install.

Renaming FS9.exe in FSGW3.exe caused a lot of flickers.

I found that if I did not rename the fs9.exe, it uses the same fs9.cfg! So, fs9.exe uses fs9.cfg & gw.exe will obviously creat & use gw.cfg. B.T.W. You can also add your existing add-on scenery into Golden Wings, if you want to & if you have 'old' scenery in FS9 by looking & adding the add-on scenery in FS9 when you are telling the scenery library in GW to add scenery. In other words, you can have a common scenery library that is actually out of the sim, as long as when you add scenery, you give the correct path. So, no more duplicate scenery installs. I also fried this with sharing scenery between FSX & P3D!

I found that if I did not rename the fs9.exe, it uses the same fs9.cfg! This is correct, but frankly speaking that doesn't hurt me. Important is to add the specific language.dll file to the modules folder in order to get to the saved GW3 flights only. Bernard
