Hi,
I didn't know about the saucer gold, I actually like it and think it would be great for them to repaint it back to the older gold scheme.
There are two ways to solve this:
1. Use modelconverterx and sent the space needle to GMAX, then give it a new GUID, new textures, and then install it into the scenery.
or,...
2. Leave it alone, create a new substitute texture for it, and have everyone rename their old textures, then install my new ones into the world/scenery library. This is the approach we took when we first did CA59/62 with the KLAX theme building and tower textures. I'll have to think about which one would be the less confusing for people.
I guess that bridge can be easily removed. I can't remember who exactly created the Portland airport scenery years ago, it was somebody who lived up there.

Yeah, that was me..and created is too kind. I made a very cruddy PDX, Tom took it and worked his magic.. Its Toms Baby to which we should all be thankful because mine was horrible. My "help" extended to giving photos and answering a few questions.

Hi,
Sorry, Chehalis was not served by any airline in the classic era, which is the criteria for inclusion.

Hi, Chehalis-Centralia airport (KCLS) was served by West Coast Airlines at one time, but service was discontinued sometime in early 1957. This 1960 -1962 scenery only supports airports with scheduled airline traffic for those years. The nearest airport to you that you could catch a scheduled flight would have been Olympia municipal (KOLM). That airport is included in this scenery, and includes a custom terminal. I think the airport itself is actually located in Tumwater, just to the south of Olympia. Olympia municipal airport terminal: From a 1954 timetable, West Coast used DC-3s on a route from Seattle - Olympia - Chehalis/Centralia - Portland. But once it appeared that they were going to put F-27s on that route, Chehalis/Centralia was dropped.

Still, I'd love to see kcls on there, if its possible to find the flight plans for WCA at that airport.

OK, I have enough information to do a "simple backdate" for KCLS, since it may eventually be in the traffic (if someone ever does a 1957 WCA traffic file). A "simple backdate" keeps the relevant default buildings and adds our classic stuff to it. Looks like it was a small grass ramp, which is why it was discontinued when that route went to F-27's.
Hope this helps,

Here's a pic: Note the DC-3 leaving the ramp. Take care,

Have uploaded a couple of airport diagrams for Chehalis from a couple of my old Jepessen manuals to my Flickr page. Went through all of the old manuals and could not find any approach plates for this airport so perhaps West Coast produced their own. Are you able to throw some light on this Tom? Also noticed that the airport was susceptible to flooding which may have had a bearing on regular air services to the town. Link to the page: www.flickr.com/photos/12530375@N08/John

F-27s don't like parking in wet, soggy grass! DC-3 has no problem with this, of course.
There is nothing on the internet showing what any building would have looked like at Chehalis. Trebor, I see you live there. The only hope of finding a photo would be to go to your public library and search through records or newspaper articles and find period photos of any buildings.
Tom and I had to do this years ago, we both went to main libraries in both Yuma and Phoenix Arizona to find out as much as we could about those airports.
I can't imagine that any "terminal" at Chehalis would have been much more than and clapboard shack, or perhaps just a hangar with a couple of sofas inside in a waiting room.

In my Jepps, Chehalis is listed as VFR only, as are most small West Coast served airports. Good weather only.

I might be able to do better. here's the history link on the airport's website. www.flycls.com/web/history_files/history.html I do not know how old the black and white photo is. but it could be a start. and a good chunk of the buildings in that old photo are still there. so you can use Bing or google maps to look at the buildings. and there WAS a terminal there, I remember I helped tear it down. it was an old hangar with a waiting room

The only difference between the 1957 timetable and the one from 1958 that we were using is the missing stop at Chehalis. So I added it.
Thanks,

That picture is not from the 1940's, but instead from the 1990's. Note the freeway next to the airport.
I was using the picture from 1978 at Historic Aerials, which shows the airport much like I have it. I did miss the two buildings below the others; I'll put them back and use one as the terminal. But as I said I'm only doing a simple backdate of this airport; no custom buildings.
