Hi!
I'm tinkering with the rework of Manfred's L-749 back to L-049 and I'm having a little problem in a couple of areas.
I want to use the standard Bendix Radio Stack.
I want to use the stock Cessna VOR1 and the 182 VOR2
Here are my problems:
1. As soon as I dial in the freq on the ADF for the station I'm going to use ... IT TURNS ON AUTOMATICALLY and CAN'T BE TURNED OFF ... I don't want that to happen.
2. If I select NAV 1 ... IT TURNS ON, BUT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF ... don't want that!
3. If I select NAV 2 ... IT TURNS ON, BUT CAN'T BE TURNED OFF ... don't want that!
4. In all cases above, the Bendix selector will NOT turn off the ADF, NAV1 or NAV2 ... once they're "ON" ... they stay that way!
5. There is NO BATTERY MASTER SHUT OFF ... adding one doesn't work.
6. There is NO AVIONICS SWITCH ... adding one causes the avionics to not work at all.
I have a couple other issues, but I need to fix or work around the above. Anyone have some clues where I should start looking and what I should be looking for? I have already fiddled around in the "aircraft" file; ever replaced the "radios" info with that from my DC-6s (which work just fine), but that didn't help. I haven't opened up the "airfile" yet, but didn't think that had anything in it that is related to the above issues.
Thanks in advance. BTW, I just can't keep my hands off fiddling around with things ... it's a weakness, I know, but it's usually just a quick "kiss and a cuddle" and all works well. This really beautiful aircraft just has me stumped.

By turn on do you mean that the Morse code starts beeping?

Hi, Tom.
Yes, but wait, there's more!!! (just heard that line on TV and could NOT Resist!)
The Bendix setup has a Selector Unit (Comm1 & Nav1, Comm2 & Nav2, DME, ADF, Squawk Freq, Selector Unit). When I tune NAV1 to the Localizer Freq, it activates by itself, without having to go through the Selector. If you push the Selector's NAV1 button to shut it off ... it doesn't accept the command. If I select NAV1 via the Selector Unit, it will turn on, but will not let you turn it off. Also, if you have NAV1 on and then punch the NAV2 buttn on the Selector ... it turns on, but NEITHER can be shut off.
It does this with the ADF as well. If it is turned on ... it will not accept any command to turn off, short of changing the freq.
However, Comm1 and Comm2 and DME and Squawk work properly, allowing you to use the Selector Unit to turn them on and off.
It's really something I've never run into before ... most unusual! Did the above description help?
Cheers,
Bill
PS ... I like to be able to fly in really crappy weather, pick up the localizer and then use ILS to bring the ship in. I have done the panel mods for the MAAM and Manfred's DC-3s, Your C-46, and Jens's DC-4, DC-6, DC-7 without a hitch; so the issues I'm having with Manfred's L-049/749 have me at a loss.

Are you saying the Bendix radio works OK in the DC-6 with the existing Radios section in the cfg file, but not in the Connie? If so, I would assume it's probably something in the gauges that might be doing it? Unless you are using another addon with the Connie.

Thanks, Tom. I'll check there since you mentioned it. Also, I could (with very little effort) just use the Connie avionics from his L-749. I know they work on the L-749. I also realize that sometimes we must compromise ... a tree bends in the wind and all is fine ... when it doesn't ... well, it just breaks!
Thanks,
Bill

Did you disable both the 2D and the VC radios on your Connie? Sorry, away from home just now. All I can think of.

Yep, but I solved most of the problem by substituting vn Connie and L1049 gauges. As I wrote before, I'm able to compromise, to bend, rather than break. This will work.
Thanks
