Good idea on the Beech 18; I'll see if I can get to that if someone sends me the textures.

The French postwar destroyer "Surcouf" has recently been released in AI version too - here the vessel at the French naval base at Diego Suarez, Madagascar (now Antsiranana).
Slightly wrong area, but not wrong era! The Spanish Air Force (Ejercito del Aire) used CASA built Ju-52 And He-111 until the Sixities. BTW, they were largely present in the 1969 movie "Battle of Britain", in German Luftwaffe repaints of course. Both a/c are here as AI at Dahkla GMMH, Southern Morocco and former Spanish Rio de Oro. This airport is better known as Villa Cisneros, one of the famous stopovers of the French Aéropostale in the Twenties and Thirties on the way to South America.

Not in Africa, but an important hub for flights to the former Spanish territory Rio del Oro & Ifni on the African west coast: the air base Gando and airport Las Palmas (GCLP) on Gran Canaria Island.
As already on Canary Islands I backdated the airport Los Rodeos / Tenerife Norte (GCXO) too. Unfortunately this airport still is in very bad memory due of the worst airport disaster in 1977 making it the deadliest accident in aviation history.
These are the last two airports among the ninety-eight others partially shown above.

Seems you have been busy Bernard. This is looking like a very nice upgrade to your West African Scenery.

I don't know how I missed this project. Unbelievable good news!
My father served in the Spanish army during the early 60s. Was sent to Africa, based in El Aaiún. He recalls going on patrols, and seeing JUs landing on the desert at small outposts. He said some of the outlying areas was not at all hilly dunes the way we often imagine. He said it was perfectly flat, and very hard, easy to land a large plane on. I have pics he took of the city, though they feature the port, and some of the downtown, I don't recall any airfield photos.
When this gets released, I'll have to have him over to take a look at the sim - see if it brings back memories!

This package hasn't been tested intensively. Due to the lack of interest I didn't went on. Furthermore all Military AI are originally flyable models. For these reasons a release won't be possible.

That's too bad. I was certainly looking forward to it... I can do without the military aircraft if I can have the airports. Hope you reconsider,

That's too bad. I was certainly looking forward to it... I can do without the military aircraft if I can have the airports. Hope you reconsider, 1000% agree with Tom! Those airfields look AWESOME. They're a very much ignored part area in the sim, geographically, and in particular, historically. Hiving off the AI component not only makes sense, in the context of the suitability of using flyable a/c as AI - but is also a tradeoff most, if not all, of the users would be willing to make just to have the aerodromes themselves. Regards, dl

Reconsidering or not won't be an issue for several months anyway as some days ago I lost almost my whole and hugh FS9 built up during the last ten years! Luckly the two African packages were still at a sharing site. So actually my prirorities would be recovering, reinstalling and recreating as much as possible.
