All, I moved my family from Atlanta to Colorado this summer, and we had two choices of routes: one through Indiana and Illinois that took us through Kansas City, and one through Alabama that took us through Memphis. The choices were really: 1) Stop in Kansas City and see the Airline History Museum's Connie, Martin, and DC-3, or 2) Stop in Memphis to see Graceland and the King's Convair 880 and Jetstar. Let me tell you, it was a difficult choice! In the end we chose to take the northern route and hit Kansas City. So we spent the morning of May 27th with the AHM staff touring the facility. What a treat! Can't wait to see these ladies fly again. According to the staff, the DC-3 will be first, which will allow funding the Connie, which will allow funding of the Martin. Best wishes to them all!

Very nice shots. It will be something to see the Connie fly again one day.

There was an airshow in Texarkana around 2001 and the AHM Connie was there. I must have spent the better part of an hour inside her poking around.
What's needed to get her flying again?

IIRC, they were waiting for some engine work. At some point they taxied her across the field for an airship, but blew the hydraulic system in the process, so that may need work as well. But she was under normal electrical power while we were there, so she's not a lost cause. The DC-3 is getting close. I think there was some skin and engine work to go. The Martin supposedly just needs an inspection. Thinking positive!
