Greetings all.
I have a number of Constellations installed in my copy of FSX - L49, L149, L749-0, L749-1, L1049G and L1649A 2.2 They all fly well, just as in FS9.
My problem lies with the pop-up panels for the aircraft. On all of them, I can bring up the FE's panel using the main instrument panel "FE" icon. The fun begins when I am at the FE's station, and use any icon that causes a pop-up panel to appear once pressed. On the 1649 these work without a hitch, but on every other one, the pop-ups do not appear over the FE's basic panel once the icon is pressed - or if they do, they may appear once or twice, then fail to respond. However, if I use the left arrow icon to return to the AC's station, then use the Shift+(number) method to call up the pop-ups, they will appear over the AC's panel, in various places. They are fully functional once they do come up. I have noticed when the FE's main panel is displayed, and the icon is pressed for any of these pop-ups, there is a little "jump" to the screen but the pop-up still doesn't appear.
I've searched the forums posts using several terms to try to find some other mention of this problem, but couldn't come up with anything matching this situation.

Are you sure that larger panels of the cockpit are not obstructing the smaller ones that may appear behind them?

I thought of that - what's happening is I start at the basic FE panel and click the pop-up icons, and at first the P/Us will appear over that panel, in all four corners, all together or one at a time. After a few more taps on those same icons, they stop appearing over the basic FE's panel. I click on the left-pointing arrow to go back to the AC's station - and all that's there is the basic aircraft inst panel. Then using the Shift+number method I can call those PUs up over the aircraft's inst panel - and in all four corners, just like they used to appear over the FE's basic panel. They're fully functional in this position, too.
Once when this happened, I tried to leave the PUs up and just go back to the FE's basic panel, thinking that panel would display under the PUs - but it doesn't. The FE's basic panel just overlays the PUs at that point. When I tried clicking on the PU's icons, I got no response at the FE's position except for a momentary "jump" or flicker that seemed to be beneath the FE's panel. I thought maybe the PUs were opening under the FE's panel, so tried shutting the FE's panel down using Shift+4 - only there was nothing behind it, no PUs. This is a bit of a stumper.

I may have hit on something. This evening I had the same problem and after having called up one of the pop-ups in the cockpit view, for some reason I used the mouse to move it just a little - probably to uncover something on the main instrument panel. After returning to the FE's panel, I hit the icon for that pop-up and it appeared over the FE's panel, just a little below where it should normally have been. After putting it back in its proper position over the FE's panel, I hit the appropriate icon again to make it disappear - and then hit it a third time, at which point it reappeared right where it should have. So, at least for this version of the Connie (L-49), calling up the pop-up over the main instrument panel, moving it slightly from its position over that panel, then going to the FE's panel and using the icon on the FE's panel to call up that same pop-up, and then moving it back into the position it should occupy in that view, appears to be the answer. I'll try this with others having that same problem tomorrow and, hopefully, be able to report having laid this hex to rest.

I've found the fix. What I reported above is the way around this problem in FSX. I only mentioned it in detail because nothing like this happened with any of MJ's Constellations in FS9, panel operation was smooth from the get-go. In FSX, at least for me, it was another matter. At any rate, going to the main inst. panel, calling up the pop-up FE panels using the keystroke combinations, moving them a little, then going straightaway to the FE's panel and calling them up using the icons on the FE's inst panel is the way to make them display properly. All you'll have to do it move them very slightly when they do appear over the FE's panel, back to where they belong - and everything will operate normally.
