Hi,
The rule is that when making a possessive, add an 's unless the name already ends in s. Then just add the '
So it's Dutch's, but it's also Jens'
The one exception to this rule I know about is that the possessive of "it" is "its", while the contraction of "it is" is "it's".
Hope this helps,

Hi,
Thank you for that, Tom!
Over on this side of the pond we have the Greengrocer's apostrophe, usually written on a board outside the shop to advertise such items as "pound's of apple's", "bunches' of banana's" etc etc' !

Hi, I have got my computer half working, (but not the part I want obviously, in order to get FS9 working reasonably!) and have found that the airplane bounces fairly seriously when accelerating along the runway: I also have a sound like a klaxon going off all the time, but that is with every airplane I try, so that is probably normal at the level this computer is functioning !! the klaxon effect is wierd. It is probably a warning signal of some sort, but so far it comes on with the default Cessna, Dutch's' ( where does the punctuation go for this ?!) DC3C as well as the FIAT G18. The first time I fried out the G18 was on the macadam runway of LIRA, and it did indeed bounced severely. The second time I took flight from LIRN, and there was no problems on the bitumen runway there. I reached the conclusion that the plane has its preferences about the material of the runway, perhaps because of some setting in the dynamics files. Nothing we can do about it. As for the klaxon sound... I had some problems resembling that one, and resolved them installing the last drivers of my SB Live ( the default drivers coming with Xp are not that great). While I do not know what kind of audio interface you're using, I can only suggest you, seen that the problem is not aircraft-specific, to try a driver upgrade of your sound card.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. That is strange- to think of a surface affecting the behaviour of the aircraft ! The klaxon sound only comes within FS9 , but what is 'SB Live' ? I'm always petrified of changing drivers and imagine looking at a blank screen from then on !

...but what is 'SB Live'? You don't know about the Sound Blaster Live? I mean, it's old alright, but not THAT old. Anyway, it's a honest sound card I've been using on my various rigs in the place of the integrated audio ( which, few people seem to know, it's almost always a passive interface that takes power and resources from the CPU, thing that I never liked) ever since when the most of the motherboards were shipped WITHOUT integrated audio. For more than 7 years now. I'm always petrified of changing drivers and imagine looking at a blank screen from then on ! Problems like that coming from the audio drivers are rare, especially if you upgrade old drivers with newer and certified ones. Mine is only a suggestion trough. You can follow it or not, at your leisure.

Hi, The SBLive is a card for a tower type computer, I guess? My laptop, only 5 years old, a Fujitsu/Seimens, first had a hard drive die and I replaced that and got great advice and assistance here about creating partitions. Everything was fine for about a month and then the video card went home. This would mean replacing the motherboard and is too expensive an idea at the moment.
What do I think of the Fujitsu, I hear you ask? Total and utter rubbish! Had I bought a cheap computer, instead of the best I could afford, I could have bought 3 or 4 for the same money; each would probably have lasted at least 3 years at the minimum and dada dada..... a very educational look-in at the throw-away society we have!

Everything was fine for about a month and then the video card went home. This would mean replacing the motherboard and is too expensive an idea at the moment. Either you did not tell, or I didn't read about you using a laptop, and yes, I'm using a couple of PC's connected together in a house net. Some time ago Sound Blaster sold an audio interface that used the USB, and I think I once heard of a project to make one on a PCMCIA card ( project I have no idea if it was followed or not by the actual hardware being produced and sold), but the vast majority of Sound Blaster audio cards I know are either ISA, PCI, or PCI-X ( the smaller connector), usable only on old fashioned desktop or tower cases. I've worked for a ten years or so in a computer dealers chain as HW/SW technician, and the only contact with Fujitsu hardware has been with their hard disks, and I must admit I have more or less the same opinion you have about this brand. I can still remember, at the times of the Pentium II ( time that stretched beyond these CPU and up the Pentium III at 733Mhz, where my experience stops only because we were not given their HDs anymore), that Fujitsu hard disks were so crappy, that if you partitioned and formatted them in a horizontal position, you could not even think of mounting them vertically, even if there was a need for availability of only vertical HD slots, because they would have resulted completely new and yet to be partitioned. This, in a time when we had to try the actual functionality of the hardware before we assembled it inside the case ( seen the high percentage of defective pieces) up to the point we took to install the OS while the PC ran "naked" on a custom rack, was something of more than simply a minor setback. In fact, every time a new lot of hard disks for the assembly came in and it were Fujutsu ones, they were greeted by most vile of curses that would have made hardened sailors call for an exorcist, had they heard us. ;D As for the PC, I being a tech, I put together my own choosing the best hardware I can afford. Only recently I have assembled a new and up to date " game PC" ( among quotes, as the only "game" I use are FS9 and X-plane 8... with some side excursion on Train Simulator and FS98 as well [yes, I still use FS98 from time to time. Gives less problems than FSX anyway ]), sending my 5 years old previous rig in the corner of the old hardware.
