While aircraft, especially from our period of interest, are my main interest-I’m a bit of a car guy too. My question is around rough statistics of how old a car you could expect to see around the late fifties.
For example, when I began to be conscious of car types and eras in Montreal during the mid 70s, I’d estimate roughly half the cars were “new” - within 2-5 years old, and roughly 40% that were 60s vintage, the balance late fifties “wing” types like the Thunderbird, Bel-Air, etc.
I know there’s a lot of variables like geography (weather/salt affecting longevity) and economic cycles. But would I have seen the occasional late pre-war Packard 110 or similar on still the streets of larger cities in say SoCal?
Curious what cars some of the folks a generation ahead of mine saw on the road, apart from the obvious “new” cars. Maybe how long your parents kept their cars, etc.
Thanks.

Thanks Tom!
I managed to pick out a number of 40s era cars in some of those, even a Ford Model A.
Great footage - much appreciated.
