For those which didn't know anything about it, like me: Sky King was an American radio and television series of the Fifties. Its lead character was Arizona rancher and aircraft pilot Schuyler "Sky" King. The series may have been based on a true-life personality of the 1930s, Jack Cones, known as the "Flying Constable" of Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County, California, although this notion is unverified.
The series had strong Western elements. King usually captured criminals and spies and found lost hikers, though he did so with the use of his airplane, the Songbird. Two twin-engine Cessna airplanes were used by King during the course of the TV series. The first was a Cessna T-50 and in later episodes a Cessna 310B was used till the series' end. The 310's make and model type number was prominently displayed during the closing titles.
King and his niece Penny lived on the Flying Crown Ranch, near the fictitious town of Grover, Arizona depicted below. The original Fs2002 scenery has been done by Bill Lyons and adapted by Ed Moore and Paul Young. Tom and other known people here have contributed too. (Source: Wikipedia) Bernard

Was my favorite show when I was young. God how I wanted to fly that plane, the 310, sportiest looking plane I'd ever seen. Seem to recall that niece Penny was rather cute. One episode in particular revolved around an "imposter" Songbird used by "the bad guys" to commit evil deeds with Sky King getting the blame. He was exhonorated when it was discovered that the insignia on the fake Songbird was a seven pointed crown while the real one had 9 points. AHA ! Take that evil doers........

Anyone recall the cartoon show "Clutch Cargo" ? I think he flew around in some sort of prop cargo plane.

Some Sky King stuff on Youtube
Youtube also has a bunch of Clutch Cargo episodes. Look at "The case of Ripcord Van Winkle". Has a GeeBee. Crude animation but writers obviously had a knowledge (love) of aviation.
Jeez, that was a lifetime ago.

I remember watching Sky King as a kid. While the show itself wasn't my type of thing, the plane certainly was.

As a kid I remember waiting impatiently to listen to the weekly evening Sky King program on the radio. You could hear the roar of the engines when they were flying the Song Bird and it made me wonder what it would feel like to actually fly in a plane. I would find out about twelve years later.

Think the original aircraft was a Cessna T-50 Bobcat.

I loved watching "Sky King" as well as "Whirlybirds." I also had this scenery in FS9 on a previous installation.
