This is not a major deal, certainly not a sim-breaker, but a question nonetheless....
History; I had been having issues with small black boxes appearing in the scenery and on some of the lighting on certain aircraft, with FSX-SE, happening quite often, so I researched it. Found out it had something to do with shaders, and a read up on a 'fix'. Pertained to changing something in the fsx.cfg file and deleting a folder in the sim. Did all that, worked wonders, no more black boxes appearing at all. However, downside to it is that some AI aircraft are not showing up entirely. Certain parts appear, but not the whole. Kind of spooky to see wheels, props and some internal rendering moving down taxiways and taking off with the outer parts invisible. Like I said, not a sim-breaker as I rarely see AI aircraft in the air, and once I leave the ground I don't see the AI parked at the gates. This only happens to non-native FSX aircraft. Many of the AI from calclassic do show up correctly, but noticed that some Douglas AI don't (at least not all of the aircraft are drawn in- leaving the wheels, struts, props and some internal rendering visible). At least not the night versions, daylight versions all show up correctly. I just did a night flight and noticed that all the Lockheed AI looked normal, but a taxiing DC-6 (or -7) aircraft did not.
Now, I am certain I have the latest versions of all the AI files downloaded, but I noticed along the top of the AI page, there are files pertaining to FSX files for P3D use... are those files updates to what I might already have, or would re-downloading the AI files (1 through 10) solve this issue. ALso have the MATS file installed and have seen they are also not fully drawn in (being FS9 AI), so MATS AI are non-native to FSX.
The flyable CV-240 and DC-6B are fine, once I downloaded the FSX versions... it is the AI that are the issue. Not a big deal as I said, but if there is a fix, I would like to know. Unfortunately, I no longer have the shader folder that I deleted, and I cannot remember what line in the .cfg file I changed. I like not having those black boxes reappearing, anyway...
