Hi all, I have just uploaded my newest scenery package, Indochina 1962 to Avsim. This scenery, made in GMAX, fully details Rangoon and Mandalay airports in Burma, Siem Riep and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Vientiane, Pakse and Savannakhet in Laos, Saigon and Da Nang in South Vietnam, and Hanoi in North Vietnam. Many custom made objects, such as people, and billboards are included. I have also included a Saigon VVTS AFCAD for 1966 for those who want to see the second runway used during the Vietnam war. This makes a great scenery for C-46, DC-4 and DC-3 flyers. Happy flying, Mike Stevens Here are a few pics. Rangoon: Vientiane: Hanoi: Saigon terminal: Saigon tower:

Thank you! Thank you! My first thought was the screenies remind me of some of other recent absolute gems like Tel Aviv and East Germany, can't wait to play. The only downside is I won't be home for another eight hours to play with it! EDIT: Small question - looking at the readme I see a heap of wonderful background information, and near the end you tell us; "Re-routes for this scenery: (the latest AI traffic at www.calclassic.com will reroute the following flights. Make sure your AI traffic files are up to date) All flights into VYMD (Mandalay Intl) are now routed into Chanmyathazi (VYCZ), as VYMD didn't even exist at this time. All flights into VVNB (Nobai Intl) are now routed into Gia Lam (VVGL), as VVNB was an air base for the Vietnamese People's Air Force at this time." I looked at the AI files here and don't see any recent updates. Were you saying the routes were already corrected in the last cycle of updates, the most recent being in Oct. 2008? Or are we expecting new updates any time now which will include Indochina? For me and others it's no big deal, I can easily make the changes myself in TTools for the two pairs of airports you name, but this may be something other users will need to know. Boyohboy, am I gonna have fun tonight!

Hi there,
I'm glad to hear people are enjoying this seldom done area of the world in scenery. Hanoi was very difficult to find information about, much less photos of the old Gia Lam terminal building. This and that ratty old hangar next to it was where all former POWs were repatriated back to the US. C 141s and C5As would pull up to that dinky terminal, and a few dozen more men would return home until the next load.
As far as the AI traffic, I'm not sure when Tom will upload that, perhaps after I finish making new DC-4m textures. Last week I made all new C-46 textures and added about 30 new ones, and then created all new Britannia textures. Some of these textures were old FS98 stuff, and others where my old textures from when I was learning to paint. These new layered textures are up to the same standards as the jets, with new metal textures, standard window layers, and they really look great now. Tom made model fixes and adjustments, and because of his work, we will now have a beautiful CL-44 freighter, which I painted in Slick, Tigers, and Seaboard colors. I am slowly going to do all new layered paints to ALL the ai to bring them up to the jet standards. The DC-4m is next. I suppose after that he will upload the new traffic.
I also have textures for Jen's B-397 in CIC colors. This was the International Control Commission plane that flew between Saigon and Hanoi. I'll upload them in a day or so to AVSIM.
Give me 4 or 5 days to do these DC-4M new textures, then the new files should be uploaded.
Expect to see no more Air Laos Stratos, and more Air America and CAT C-46s in Laos.
Hopefully if all those addon libraries are installed, everything should be showing up in the scenery.
Next up on my scenery list, Manila, then Seoul Kimpo, then Beijing capital airport. All are 1962 versions.
cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the answer, Mike! Short-term I'll just edit the flightplans myself. It'll be good to see those new colours when they are done.

I forgot to mention I have not tried this scenery with any addon mesh at all. I have no idea what it will look like. Hopefully everything will be fine. Unless I make a note of it, all my scenerys are built with the standard FS mesh.
The new AI CL-44s are huge, they dwarf the DC-7 freighters, and look as big if not bigger than a 707!
Mike

Hi, We are waiting for several things to be finished before uploading the new AI traffic and planes. Unless you download ALL the files again you will miss a bunch of stuff, so I want things to be "finished" at least for a while before making you go through all that again.
