Nice image of the North Central DC-3. Was this aircraft a port over to the new MS 2020 software??
One thing I have always noted about the DC-3 is its noticeable wing sweep back, much like jet airliners or say the ME 262 for example.

Hi,
It’s the fleet number. Each aircraft had a unique number assigned to them. Many airlines used the last 2 or 3 digits of the reg number, but not NCA. Perhaps the first digit “3” denotes a DC-3.

BTW Gary, how hard was it to add the DC-3 to the sim? What steps were involved?

I used Modman which takes the zipped file and unzips and places files C47 and c47_CVT into the community folder or it could be done manually. I still have Modman and DC3 Download saved on my computer.
My path is: C:/users/19018/AppData/Local/Packages/8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalCache/Packages/Community
Your path may be different.

Fs2020 is definitely a different animal. I'm sure alot of addons will be forthcoming but other than the DC-3, I miss my propliners! So it's back to FSX for nostalgia.
So far, I have seen any way I would paint in fs2020 other than FSX adaptations.

It's probably just me not understanding you well, but I guess you mean the texture layout is completely different? Or do they use a different format, like "tga" for the textures?
Thanks! Jorge Miami, FL

I think it still uses DDS textures, but the textures required (using a PBR approach) are quite different from FSX. It's similar to the system used in P3D, but not identical. Also, the method for adding liveries to the default FS2020 planes is very different - the new livery is put into a Community folder (all addon stuff goes in there) and a "package" is built to tell FS2020 to add it to a certain default plane (using XML text files). You don't add it to the plane's folder itself. For addon aircraft, the whole thing goes into the Community folder, as does addon scenery. But all of them require a "package".
PS. this is to the best of my knowledge from reading the forums, I have no first hand experience.

That's the procedure. Still seems weird but the other sims did too years ago.

Marc, Tom, Thanks for the responses. It seems, based on what Tom said, that it could be possible to use a program called Jonesoft Games Mod Enabler (JSGME) with this version of FS. It's used by various other sims and games to add and remove add-ons for them. I don't think there are any "specific" requirements to make the thing "compatible" with the various sims, but I know that you generally install JSGME in in its own folder then specify where to find the mod and how to "install" it into the program. All the user has to do is install JSGME on their computer properly then click a button to get the mod "installed" in the sim. If you want to remove it, just click the corresponding button. Here's a link to a tutorial for another sim, but the general idea is the same: DCS Forum Tutorial LinkThe main thing for us to consider with this program is that the designer of the mod/add-on has to ensure they have the file structure done correctly within their add-on. Since it's the structure of the game itself there shouldn't be any issue. It seems that the "Community" folder, as explained, is basically a carbon copy of the sim install itself. If this is the case, the sim may be installed anywhere yet the mods/add-ons can be installed into the sim. The "Community" folder would then be the "MOD" folder as far as JSGME is concerned. As the user, you just have to remember to place things in the Community folder instead since it's the one you designated. Not sure if this would work, though. I'd have to see a file structure of FS2020 and compare it to the sims I have that use JSGME. The link itself should explain better what I'm talking about and those of you that have the sim itself can tell me if this would be a possibility. I just think it would make things somewhat easier for users, if it can be incorporated, since all they would have to do is click a button to install or uninstall an add-on. No more trying to figure out if the cfg file is done properly, or whether you placed a dll file or other module in the right place or not. As long as the designer has the file structure correct, all you would have to do as a user is click a button. Hope this helps you guys! Regards, Jorge Miami, FL
