Hi all, Noel Sivertson has sent me this exciting news!: I have been working on a retro military ai program for California Classics. I'm in the last stages of what has been an off again-on again 2 1/2 year project. I hope to have it finished within two weeks. I've only got about a half dozen AFCADs left to tailor and a new base (Fort Hunter Ligget - Camp Roberts) to build. Here are some screen shots. 1 - March AFB flight line. 2 - Alameda Naval Air Station flight line. 3 - Crissy field at the presidio of San Francisco. 4 - Aircraft lined up for take off at Hamilton AFB. 5 - Northrop XB-35 Flying Wing taking off on a test flight from Edwards AFB. I am doing every military base in California plus Stead AFB, Nellis AFB, and Fallon NAS in Nevada. Noel Thanks Noel - this is an amazing project. BTW, this will be available only on CD from Noel - you will send him a CD and return postage, and he will send you the package burned on CD.

Glad to see some interest is being generated with this program.
Wolfgang, the size isn't any larger than a standard program. The reason for the CD is that I am including the aircraft so you won't have to download and reconfigure them yourself. There will be 75 military aircraft in the program (including those from the MATS program) . That would make it a considerable chore to do yourself and probably put some people off. I hestate to put aircraft developed by someone else but which Ihave modified for ai use in a public download. Using the CD makes it private person to person exchange.
When the product is finished I will send a CD to Tom and let him check it out before I make it available. When he gives the OK I will make the announcement and include my e-mail address so you can contact me for my mailing address.
I would also like at this time to recognize and thank jesse Callahan, a friend of many years, for being sort of an unofficial beta tester for me. He has been using the program over the years and I have been sending him the updates from time to time.

I would like to make one small suggestion here if I may, Noel. As I recall from the early days at Hamilton and Travis....It was a SAC base and was home to both the B-29 and B-36. A few of those at SUU would be very realistic. The 9th Bomb Wing and Group were to host organizations. MATS at the time was a tenent unit.

Jesse,
I am making this program for the 59-62 era. When I was stationed at Hamilton it was an ADC base with an F-101 wing. When I took off from Travis for Japan in 1959 I believe it was already a MATS base.
But I invite everybody who gets this program to tailor it to thier own whims and fancies. There is plenty of parking at most large bases so you can add whatever you like as far as favorite aircraft and traffic go.
I do have a bit of B-47 - B-52 - and KC-35 traffic at Travis. I can add a couple of KC-97s.

Sorry, I did make my post clear. I was at Hamilton, but we used to go over to Travis when they had the B-29s and the B-36s operating there. The base was know then as Fairfield-Suisun AF Base. It was renamed later after General Travis was killed in the crash of a B-29 while taking off from KSUU. Eighteen men aboard were killed as well as some civilians on the ground when the plane went down in an off base mobile home park. The 5th Bomb Wing which flew the B-29s and the B-36s were there from 1951 to 1968. MATS was established at Travis (then known as Fairfield-susan) in 1948 as a tenent organization under SAC. It became the Host organization in 1958.

Sign me up! Those are some great looking screen shots!
(I just saw a Navy Cutlass and Cougar up close and personal at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola.)
