USS Los Angeles was a rigid airship, designated ZR-3, It was built in 1923–1924 by the Zeppelin company in Friedrichshafen, Germany, as war reparatio. and delivered to the United States Navy in October 1924.
In Januar 1928 the USS Los Angeles proved their manoeuverability by flying from Lakehurst and landing on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga off Newport, RI without the benefit of a mooring mast. The airship was moored at carrier's after deck.
