This video of the Monte Renoso crash of an Air Nautic Stratoliner depicted in FS is using a Stratoliner. I wonder if this is Jens? It sure looks like Jens' plane. There can't be that many B-307s out there for FS.
This is a crash I had never heard of before. It was controlled flight into terrain, in this case the sheer wall of a mountain. Seems everything that could go wrong with this flightplan did go wrong. The guy that makes these videos has like the best computer and FS I have seen, with walking people addons. I think he is in China, but not sure. He produces some of the best crash reenactment videos on YouTube. I like the fact that he shows the documentation on what when wrong, the decisions by the boards of inquiry, and an analysis of what happened - not just a video. I have learn much from these videos towards my flying. Many of the crashes involve the First Officer doing the flying. The rest are mainly carelessness, fatigue, not being focused on flying, or too much dependence on technology and not enough "hands on flying".

I also believe that this video about the crash of a Northwest DC-4 flight 2501 from LaGuardia to Seattle is one of our DC-4s, also by Jens. I guess our propliners have become YouTube famous!

Is this Braniff Electra the JR Lucariny Electra?

Finally, I do think this is the Greg Pepper Convair 340 in United paint (at least it sure looks like it). It was no longer in use by United, and the company that owned it kept it in poor maintenance. It was charted by the band Lynyrd Skynyrd and ran out of fuel and crashed. I was in high school when this happened, and although I was not a fan of the band, I do remember students talking about it.
I posted his old propliner videos. He has other videos, many using early jets such as DC-8, Caravelle, etc, and of course more modern stuff. The name of the channel on YouTube is Airplane Central. You can also click on that name in the video player and it will take you to his page. Click on videos tab at the top and it will take you to all of his videos and you can browse them. I have mentioned to this guy it would be nice to see some of the older 1945 to 1970 crashes and read about what when wrong and how in many cases, changes to rules and regulations came into being.

Interesting, indeed. The last one reminds me of several propliner crashes, in which the unreliability of fuel gauges played a role. This shortcoming led to crews also largely ignoring their indications if these were saying to be low on fuel and actually correct, if their mindset was to be having enough gas. This is a natural phenomenon, adressed to extent in today's pilot (and other) training.
I therefore find the conclusion written in the last video rather harsh. In itself, it seems obvious, but more often than not has 'pilot error' at least partly been the result of a faulty system. That being coupled with lack of discipline or awareness from an aircrew is what makes the deadly mix. Erik
P.S.: Looking at the documentation with that plane without having downloaded it, I am not sure that version was authorized by the original creators. Use your own good judgement please.

P.S.: Looking at the documentation with that plane without having downloaded it, I am not sure that version was authorized by the original creators. Use your own good judgement please. I agree. Most licensing allows for non-commercial use. But YouTube pays video uploaders once their videos reach a certain viewing audience level. Also I see this guy now has an online store selling his merchandise.
The Lynyrd Skynyrd band crash video seems to say that the Convair twins had poor quality or fault fuel gauges. I had never heard that before. Never the less the fuel should have been checked with a fuel measuring rod.
I am convinced that the Braniff Electra is the JR Lucariny Electra. I have it in my fleet and the nacelles are identical in texture.
Another young fellow (I think he might live in the Philippines), also produces these same type videos. The name of his channel is "Allec Joshua Ibay". I believe he still uses FS 2004 for his videos. He has more videos with older accidents than the first guy does. Here he has used an American Electra to simulate and then figure out what when wrong with American flight 114 into Knoxville, Tenn.

There is yet another channel with these type videos called "The Flight Channel". Its somewhat unusual because the person who is into FS and produces these videos is a woman (yeah, I'm old lol). Its typically men who are into FS. There are almost a hundred videos on her channel. This is the Grand Canyon crash. She complains that despite searching, she couldn't find the right planes for the video. I was like "hey, look right here at Cal Classic, we've got them"! Would have made a better video to have used the California '59 scenery, too.

This from the "Allec Joshua Ibay" channel about American flight 1, which almost grounded all 707s. I had heard years and years ago about this crash but knew nothing much of it. Lucille Ball was booked on this flight, and when she got to the ticket counter she decided she wanted to add something else to a contract she was in NYC for, so she turned away and got back into a cab. Lucky for Lucy!

The only other channel that I know of is a small upstart called "Fly with Penguin" and it has 4 videos. I'm hoping it takes off because it looks like he is more into the vintage side of things. He has a video on a Pan Am (ex National) 727 that crashed taking off from New Orleans due to windshear. It was that crash that led to the mandate for windshear detection at all major airports in the USA. This video is of the first crash of a 737, United flight 553 just outside of Stapleton.

This is a very interesting story. In fact I just watched an "Expedition Unknown" with Josh Gates on Discovery Channel, last week about it. Good Job. Stefan
