I just had a look at the FS9 Convair 240 for the first time since my new install and found that I had no gauges. Tried reinstalling the Base Packs but then ended up with the Cessna cockpit. Had it all running properly in my old install but it obviously hasn't transferred across correctly. Tried the part with the UAL CV-340 as per the panel page but no success.
It is quite clear that I'm doing something wrong but can't see where. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks John

Did you install the American CV-240 Base Pack to get the panel and sounds?

Hi Tom Thank you for your quick reply. Installed that but the Sim keeps crashing when I try to open that aircraft as well as others. Seems something may have crept in there so I'll delete the Convairs and start from scratch.

Hi Tom Deleted the whole group and installed the American CV-240 Base Pack but still getting the crash. I read where the Realistic Engine Start can cause a crash but when I tried to rectify that I couldn't locate the panel.cfg file mentioned in the read me. Would you please be able to point me in the right direction to find it. Cannot recall having this problem with my old install.

Hi,
It should be in the FS9/Aircraft/240pnlkmcc folder. It is relatively rare for those gauges to cause crashes with FS9, but not unheard of.

Hi Tom Many thanks. For some reason negating those gauges in the Realistic Engine Start .cfg did the trick. Goodness know why but have no recollection of having that problem with the old install. Now to put everything back in again.

I'm gonna guess that your old install was Windows 7 and the new one is Windows 10. I had the same issue with the engine autostart gauge and also the one for the L-1649 Connie. When I commented it out in the cfg, all was well. Guess it just doesn't like 10. Shame because I loved that feature.

Hi Mike You may have something there. My Sim is installed on a separate Windows 7 computer that is not connected to the internet. However I do all of my downloads from a Windows 10 computer and then transfer the files via a USB stick. Perhaps this is the cause of it happening now. The old install was done and run on the same Windows 7 machine.
Again have learned something new thanks to this wonderful Forum.

Dunno. I would be inclined to think the downloaded files would be the same regardless of the OS used. The difference being in the way they were read by whatever OS they were installed in. Any way you could do a temp internet connection with the Win 7 computer to do a download and install, then test it out ? I understand your concern about the connection using Win 7 but a one time shot would most likely be safe. Never, ever had a problem security wise with anything coming from CalClassic.
Just my thoughts
Mike

I can’t imagine that downloading on a Win 10 computer would make any difference at all. More likely it could be changes in the video card or video driver that is making the difference.

John, did you set the windows compatible mode in your icon that loads FS9. Not doing so in windows 10 can cause various issues. I have windows 10 (hooked to the internet, not sure why you wouldn’t) and have no issues running anything in FS9 but if compatibility mode is not set right - all kind of issues happen.

As I understand it he is running on Win 7, not Win 10. Sometimes even on Win 7 it helps to run in Win XP compatibility and Run As Administrator.

To me the requirements were the same for win7 as with win10, you needed to set compatibility mode to XP and Admin mode or something is not going to work right in FS9

Thank you to every one for your input. It is always appreciated.
The setup I have is my Windows10 computer is my internet computer and the Windows7 which isn't connected to the internet is my FlightSim computer and it has nothing else on it but FS9. Since doing this my Sim has never flown better. With no internet updates etc. to interfere with the Sim and its settings everything works far more accurately.
Once I read that engine start part in the "Read me" section and did what he suggested it is working fine. The panel is there and I can do a startup from the cockpit and the aircraft flies perfectly. So I like to leave well enough alone and will enjoy flying this aircraft again. There are some nice Australian repaints there.
Thanks John
