Hi Tom,
I'm having a problem with the new DC6's. I'm using FS9 and WinXP. I always start FS with my default flight (in the stock C182 @meigs with the engine running) before moving to a different aerodrome or loading a different aircraft.
What is happening is that after I load one of the DC6's, when I go to switch views (either around the cockpit or to an external view) all the engines quit. This also happened to me with the original CV240/340/440's also. I haven't tried your new beta releases of those aircraft yet. Through trial and error (mostly the latter! LOL) I found with the CV's if I loaded the UAL CV340 first, cycled through the views (for some reason the engines kept running), then loaded a different model or livery (240, e.g.) the engines would keep running on that aircraft also.
This is most weird. It happened on my old computer with the CV's (had no problem with the DC's). However, now I'm running a totally different rig and the problem is cropping up with the new DC's, whereas prior to installing your latest files I didn't have this problem.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers, Scott KJMS (or thereabouts)

This of course is just a suggestion. If that happened to me the first thing I would do is go to Settings - Assignments and then click on Reset Defaults just in case something got assigned to the wrong keys. For example.....I use SHIFT plus the minus key to shut down all engines all at once. Rarely have a reason for it but its there if I need it.

Thanks for the suggestion However, I had a few minutes before I have to go to work. This time I started FS9 as per normal (outlined above). After it started I loaded the DC6A and the engines continued to run as I cycled through the views. I then loaded a DC6B and it also ran without a problem....most strange. Anyway, if this is how I have to load them to keep the props turning, it's OK with me. Kind of like the little song and dance I had to to through with the CV propliners...again, most strange... Cheers, Scott KJMS (or thereabouts)

If the engines haven't been running a while (or you load the plane, which is the equivalent), you need to crack the throttle or the engines will die. This is just like the real thing - upon starting you stablized the engines at 1000 RPM, not at idle.
I had added "Crack the throttle" to the engine starting instructions for just this reason.
Hope this helps,
Tom
