This is really off topic, but I just had to post. One of the great human interest stories of the week.

There is a TV show in the UK that is like America's Got Talent (similar to American Idol), called Britain's Got Talent. Simon Cowell is one of the judges (and probably owns the show, if I know him).

Anyway, they recently had a contestant on the show called Susan Boyle, and there were a lot of snickers in the crowd when she came on. Watch the video and see what happened:

This wife was previewed and
they planned this appearance in detail.

Hi Tom thanks for posting that...truly amazing ..rehearsed or edited or not. The lady can really sing. And I don't think Amanda's reaction was scripted, she was honestly surprised and somewhat humbled I think that the immediate expectation, I guess most of us had of the contestant, was so utterly wrong.

I think it is the same show that already produced a similar result last year with the guy singing opera arias....bringing tears to the eyes of even the rougher crews out there.

And yes you are I think correct...Simon is the producer of that show. And has first signing rights as well for his music label if I remember correctly.

That second vid Wolfgang posted is quite good as well in a different sort of way ;D

wow! Thanks for posting Tom, I never watch that show but I'm glad I saw this, it was a bit like what would happen in a movie when the prducers say, "OK go on," expecting a load of rubbish then they are open mouthed.

Came back to add:

I've watched this 6 times now and each time I get a tear, she shocked everybody, you must read the comments on YouTube on Tom's link, everybody loves her.

As I understand it the crew (behind the curtain) had indeed heard her sing before and knew what was going to happen but the three judges had not, and thus their reactions were real. Do you have any evidence that this is incorrect?

I'm absolutely sure about the jury,
they know how good she sings.
If you take a look at the jury in
both videos, you can see exactly the
same reaction in their faces.
Two times the same........I don't believe it.

Susan is 100% real and also she forgot
to being there in the room after her appearance.
That's real, because most candidates forget
what are tell to them before the show.
I know that from our candidates ;D
I always gave instructions on "our" radio shows
and....they always forget what to do

The crew and the jury always know what is
going on in their shows.
I can tell many "stories", but I have to close
my slacky mouth

What a wonderful voice she has.

Tom, that isn't the crew behind the curtain; that is one of the most famous entertaining double acts of the last 5 years, namely Ant and Dec!

Which is which, you might ask? Well, as Bill Nighy said, " Ant is the one who looks like an ant."

Behind the curtain might well be the best place for them though!
