Hey all,
I've just uploaded a new scenery package to Avsim: Glasgow Renfrew 1960. It is based on Geoff Smith's Renfrew scenery, but with a new afcad and several major and minor adjustments.
Hope you'll all like it, I guess it's my idea of a birthday gift... ;D

Just one question guys - the installation instructions say that there should be 2 zipped files in the folder, one for vintage cars and one for JDB's general items, but I only see one zipped file which contains the JDB general items. There is also one odd item, described as a scenery library which is an .rar file, and I guess this contains the vintage cars, but try as I may my car park is empty !
Can you please clarify the installation instructions for this file, as I'm not familiar with .rar files ?
Thanks.
Richard.

Hi Richard,
... ****, made a mistake... T_T The .rar file was supposed to be a .zip file, but I probably ticked the wrong box when I compressed it. You should be able to open it with winrar, which is an archiver that works on both .zip and .rar-files.
I could upload a second version with that problem worked out, but even then it is odd your parking would be empty: the vintage car library only adds the odd car here and there. The cars on the parking lot are all objects from the parking_lots_large_ss.zip-file by Sydney Schwartz and Lars Loyer, which can be found both on Avsim and Flightsim.com - are you sure you have that particular one installed, Richard?
Regards,
Nikko

Nikko
Appreciate your speedy reply - I've managed to upzip and install the .rar file now, [ with your instructions ! ] and - having checked again - found that I had not actually ever installed the parking_lots_large file, although I seem to have all the others.
Anyway, the car park is now full.
Thanks also for creating this "updated" Renfrew scenery. By a strange coincidence, I had been looking at the original package by Geoff Smith and wondering how to update the AFCAD without loosing the scenery he had done. Then I had to go into hospital for some tests, and when I came home , found you had done it all for us !
Thanks again.
Richard.

Hey Richard,
It's been a pleasure to help you out.
Of course, now I've broken all the rules of a good 'customer support' service: I didn't keep you waiting for hours on end; didn't force you to listen to half a CD before you got somewhere; and didn't try and flog half a dozen of other products while not giving any useful help at all... ;D

Ah, Nikko, this looks like the end of a promising career ;D The old Renfrew is very nice, many thanks for it. I used to live on the other side of the river, and listened to the planes going out at night when I was supposed to be going to sleep. Do you know of any FS models of the Goodyear/India factory, originally an airship construction shed built by Beardmore's? It could be seen for miles around. Cheers MikeW
