RETRO Misc. Flight #17 Bozeman to Jackson Hole . . .1959

This is a GA flight From Bozeman, Montana to Jackson Hole, Wyoming (KBZN – KJAC). We have 60 gallons of fuel on board for the one hour 133 NM flight. We have good weather with light cloud cover for the entire time. We will be cruising at 10,000 feet and up to 11,000 feet for short periods of time. We will be flying over Yellowstone National Park much of the time.

1. Cockpit checks completed and starting the engine.
2. Taxiing out to Runway 12 for takeoff.
3. Up and away.
4. Turning on a course of 156 to Jackson Hole.
5. We are approaching the foothills of the Gallatin Range.
6. About 50 NM from the airport with Sage Peak off to the right.
7. We are now near the Wyoming border with Specimen Creek below.
8. Now in Wyoming we see Harlequin Lake below.
9. Just like the Beach Boys said it takes “Good Timin’” to see Old Faithful geyser erupting below to our left.
10. That is Shoshone Lake off our left wing.
11. About 36 NM from Jackson Hole we see the Henry’s Fork Range in Idaho off to our right.
12. With the Teton range ahead and Jackson Lake below we turn to intercept our approach to Jackson Hole.
13. We are at 10,000 feet about 17 NM from the airport.
14. A final turn to line up our approach to runway 18.
15. Descending through 9,000 feet with the Teton Range off our right wing.
16. Passing through 8,000 feet with Grand Teton at 13,775 feet high up above our nose.
17. Just below 7,000 feet and a little over 2 NM out we are lined up on our approach.
18. Nearly there.
19. Touchdown.
20. Tail wheel down and continuing the rollout.
21. Turning off the runway and heading to parking.
22. Parked and engine shut down. Hope you enjoyed the flight – the dog did.
