Ever since I saw the Documentary "The Most Useful Airport In THe World" I had the desire to do a flight to this most interesting and challenging Airport, so recently I readied A Pan American DC-6B to do this almost 2000mile trip from Cape Town South Africa to st. Helena. Below some images of this trip. Departing the Cape Town area in a NW direction. After several hours I was able to climb up to FL240. IAS 185kts....30in. manifold pressure.....2300RPM....Fuel flow 700lbs\hr\engine. Clipper Liberty Bell cruising along happily at FL240. After about 5hrs we started our decent to 3800ft. St. Helena Island coming into view. We will be crossing the Island midway and circle to do an Approach to RWY 20 from north to south. On final for an approach to RWY 20. AT the Terminal Ramp. If interested you can view a number of videos by googeling St. Helena Airport on youtube. Herman

Thanks for the nice shots. The PMDG DC-6B in FS2020 is looking good.

Uh, I'm a little irritated. The first airport on the island of St. Helena opened in October 2017, so would hardly see a PanAm DC-6?

Are you saying that he cannot fly the plane he likes to any airport he likes? That is one reason we use a flight simulator - we can do things we cannot do in real life.

As far as I'm concerned, he can go supersonic to the moon in a DC-3. In my opinion, simulation means reproducing something from reality.

OK.....yes, St. Helena Airport did not open until 2016\2017 for regular passenger services, and historially using a DC-6B would not be correct, however, the reason I chose this aircraft was because this website is mainly for propliners and not jetliners, which is actually the type of aircraft (Embraer 170) that is used for this service.
Yes, I suppose I could have used a later type turbo prop airliner.

OK...thank you all.
Aharon....I do not have a new computer. Actually my specs are below the minimum recommended by MS for MS2020. However, following a recent update I was able to get 30FPS during most flights and the FPS do dip a bit when approaching the lager airports with lots of AI traffic. Graphic settings are mostly in the Medium to High side.
I do alternate between FSX Steam and FS2020 depending which era I am flying in. I get most of my flights from the Historic Airliner Group website, which features many schedules of all the classic airliners, and also participate on the Forums of CalClassic and HJG.
My Computer is a HP Pavilion desktop...Windows 10. 64 bit Processor....Intel i5-8400...2.8 GHz...12GB Ram.
Video Card...NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050i. 8GB Ram
Cheers....Herman

Herman,
Thanks for your answers. It AMAZES me that your specs manage to handle MS2020 smoothly. That is good news for any laptop user!!
When you said recent update, what did you do to update, please?

Aharon

Yes... as Tom Mentioned, I did mean that updates are done automatically for FS2020 periodically by Microsoft as they become available.
As I mentioned before, at the moment the program is running quite smoothly with most of the Graphic Setting set at medium and some set at high, with Ultra being the highest. As far as FPS, I intentially have set them at 30 FPS which, from what I have read, will give the GPU some benefits.( Don't know all the technical stuff involved). When flying into large airports like Los Angeles for example, the FPS do drop off and cycle between 15 and 30 FPS and at times I think that maybe I should upgrade from 12 GB to 16 or 32 GB's.
The addition of FS2020 has been a very challenging prosses for me at my age. (coming up to 80)There were many new things to learn and adapt to, but I suppose it is good to keep those brain neurons activated.
AS far as addons for FS2020 are concerned, both freeware and payware, the choices are increasing considerably almost daily. If you would like more information regarding addons I would be happy to let you know.
Cheers....Herman

Beautiful screenshots, Herman! I've heard that FS2020 has a "built in" SDK, so that anyone can tinker with it as long as they have the appropriate license. It would be interesting to have a go at some vintage stuff for FS2020, but since you need to have the sim itself it seems the development is limited to those that have the proper version. Besides, no $$$$ or time right now on my end to upgrade my 2010 Asus G73. That DC-6 looks beautiful, by the way! Jorge
