David Wooster has created an amphibian Douglas Dolphin with some Navy and civil repaints. One of them is a Dolphin used by Willmington Catalina Airline from beginning the Thirties. The planes where scheduled between Willmington, Los Angeles and the original Catalina airport in Hamilton Cove on Santa Catalina Island. I basically recreated both seaplane bases. At Hamilton Cove the planes taxied out to a large turntable mechanism, where they were rotated to the ramp. Hamilton Cove was discribed as "the samallest airport with the largest landing field (the Pacific) in the world". The Dolphin taking off from its Willmington base. Bernard

Nice. I was always amazed at all the flights between Catalina and the mainland.
