However we did have to shut down engines a few times due to oil starvation or perhaps a swallowed valve. The R3350 was a bit harder on the cylinders than was the R-4360. Jesse

Great article Jesse...wished I had read that before the flight testing on the L-1049. Could have saved myself a few phone calls and trips to KCMA to talk to a pilot lucky enough to have flown the real thing.
Sure would love to pay that small price to get that chance. $4000...to fly a Connie....tell me when and where and I am there.
