G'Day Gents,
The DC7c autopilot works fine in alt lock, up, down, modes. The heading light cycles from green to yellow, but G-ARUD does not follow the heading bug. The only part of the heading system that works is the left/right knob. For the first few minutes this is entertaining, but its difficult to find centre and the resulting wandering over the 'sky' is not fitting with the rest of the excellent aeroplane.
Have tried turning A/P on/off etc but no joy. Has anyone found a fix please?
Also notice that fuel is only consumed from the main tanks and 'fiddling around' with the crossover valves does'nt seem to make a difference. I say 'fiddling' because I cant find a plan of the 7's tank/piping/valve layout to make it more than a guess. Could anyone point me to one please?
happy flights,
Mike

The DC6/7 series did not have the autopilot linked to a heading bug. Clicking the centre of the turn knob will centre the heading at aircraft's actual heading at the time you click it. To avoid overshooting or undershooting the desired heading reduce the rate of turn by turning the knob closer to the centre position as you get near that heading.
The main/aux selector levers are easier to move in VC, left click to move them backwards to aux (or off), right click forwards again. Likewise the crossfeeds levers in VC are left click to open, right to close. The 2D window levers do need you to practice and remember the click points. The model's tank arrangement is a simplified version of the real thing, but it still allows you to use the aux tanks initially then the main tanks as in the real world.

As I remember there is a diagram of fuel settings during a flight in the package? I’m not at my computer at the moment.

Thanks Bill I had not discovered the click centre of turn button bit, but had been reducing the rate of turn as heading was achieved.
Same, same I had found the left click/right click for the valve levers (I have the panel in VC mode) - its just I could not work out where the fuel was coming from! I will look again in the package to see if I can find a diagram, thanks Tom.

Hi,
For the fuel use diagram go to:
FS2004/Aircraft/ (or FSX/Simobjects/Airplanes/) dc7pnlkmcc/DC7 PANEL OPERATIONS/start here.htm
Click on Cal Classic Modifications
Scroll down to the Fuel System section and the image links are there.
Hope this helps,
