Shalom and greetings all my pals,
I got new laptop and I have to buy editing softwares for creating beautiful screenshots. I cannot believe that Adobe stopped selling individual copies of whatever is newest version of Photoshop. My last version is CS5
Adobe wants annual subscription which is rip off because it is 120 bucks per year or 240 bucks per two years. The last price for upgrade version of Photoshop was 149 bucks for PERMANENT ownership of single copy of Photoshop.
How do all of you get Photoshop for your repaints and screenshots?? Do you use expensive annual subscription??
I own Paint Shop Pro Ultimate X2, X4, X6, and X9 versions BUT there are some important functions on Photoshop CS5 that I cannot find in any of my Paint Shop Pro Ultimate versions hence me needing to buy Photoshop CS6 for my new laptop for screenshot editing. I do NOT want subscription gimmick which is rip off and expensive scam.
Regards,
Aharon

I still use PSP 7.0, since I'm stuck in FS9 land.

I use Picasa 3 and Luminar and find no need for Photoshop.

I think subscription service is the new model for a lot of software producers. No more buying it once and using it for years.
For my uses, GIMP and Paint.NET work well enough and are freeware.

The last version of Photoshop issued on disc was CS6 from 2012. The differences between that and CS5 were probably marginal and the obvious thing would be stick with CS5. The latest subscription version may be the best, but unless you are involved with professional graphics the older versions offer far more than most people need. If I was only using an image program for FS I would probably use Paint Shop Pro, because I have never found Photoshop's pen tool very intuitive. I tried Gimp at one point but found it frustrating.
There is nothing silly about all this from Adobe's point of view, because their only concern is making money, and as the 'best' program of its type Photoshop was always very expensive. Back in the day, of course, pirate copies circulated extensively, but that is one thing the subscription service was designed to stop.

I use Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 for all my photo processing needs, and I have quite a few professional needs outside Flight Simulator. Subscription licences are for one thing alone - making money. It is my view that Adobe is the worst - their pricing may be fine for large businesses but they are an insult to small businesses and home users. They simply drive the latter away. Corel PaintShop Pro 2018 is by no means the latest version, but they frequently offer upgrades at substantial discount. The initial price is not cheap and your best option might be to look for an older edition (like 2018) on a "well known site" and then consider whether you feel the need to upgrade. To be honest, pushing out upgrades every year or two probably doesn't give you a huge improvement each time! John Update: Actually, the buying recommendation above may not be the best way to buy - the 2023 edition isn't expensive - £62.99 in English money: www.paintshoppro.com/en/products/paintshop-pro/ultimate/
Price is probably similar in your local currency.

You are correct about your comment on Adobe insulting home users. As for Corel Paint Shop Pro Ultimate, you are correct too. If you see my original post, you will see I own many versions of that software which I always upgrade for lousy 25 bucks using Corel's Black Friday sale every November. Unfortunately, Corel PSP Pro Ultimate does not have some functions that Photoshop CS 5.1 has which I need. Anyway, while I was shopping around for alternative editing softwares to meet my needs for replacing Photoshop CS 5.1, Adobe tech support told me this morning that Adobe Photoshop Elements 2023 would be exactly same as few year old Photoshop CS 5.1, Although I was much much skeptical of the tech support's claim knowing that it is probably phony sales pitch, I decided to check features and system requirements of the Elements 2023, I was EXTREMELY shocked to find out that this Elements 2023 has WHOPPING WHOPPING 30 GB file size!!. That is equivalent to THIRTY payware airport sceneries!! Sheesh Regards, Aharon
