Limatambo International Airport was the international airport of Lima until 1960, when it was replaced by the Jorge Chávez International Airport. Therefore I have at least moved my 1955 traffic to there. The scenery should be completed with some further small buildings. It's part of "Lima 1965" version. Until now I wasn't award that Lima's actual aiport is named after the peruvian aviator which crossed first the European Alps by aircraft in 1910. He flew from Brig in Southern Switzerland to Domodossola, Italy, passing the Simplon Pass. He reached it succesfully, but his plane crashed upon landing. Heavily injured but conscious, he died four days later. In honour of Chavez's performance and his death, a monument has been erected at Domodossola. It even has been recreated for FS9. I'm actually leaving not far from the said Italian city. This also was the particular reason for me to deal with Lima's airports. Bernard

That is a very nice rendition Bernard! when I made this one years ago.. I was not planning to include the old airport .. but while researching it caught my attention that Limatambo is a perfect example of urban redevelopment and infrastructure usage when traffic was moved to the new Jorge Chavez Intl. All hangars & taxiways were removed.. but the crossing runways were converted into avenues and merged as part of the urban for coming years... the main terminal building, parking area and even access ramp was converted into Peru´s Ministry of Inteior and remains almost intact until today, except for the tower cab removed onlate 90´s /early 200´s . NICE ....
