A nice video from a channel called "Greg's Airplanes and Automobiles." It's mainly focused on the flight simulators IL-2, but there are plenty of segues into other topics. This one won't have any new information for those that have already researched Turbo Compound Radial Engines, but it's still and interesting watch.

Interesting indeed. I didn’t see any reference to IL-2 though, it was all about airliners.

.. I didn’t see any reference to IL-2 ... Hi, it refers to the channel in general, I think. The channel i really worth looking into, a lot of technical information to learn from. Much of the technology being discussed is somewhat different from the classic propliner engines, though, mostly different supercharger installations, mostly turbochargers. You may want to look at the F4F for a geared-turbocharger-only setup. Thanks for the head-up in the original post! I found this really interesting and much deeper information than you usually get. About the only thing that I wouldn't agree with is setting up the Douglas DC-7 against the Lockheed L-1649 Starliner. The L-1049C and the following Super Constellations would actually be a better comparison, the L-1649 with its long-range wing was a reaction to the extended-wing DC-7C (which was much less of a redesign than the L-1649). Best regards, Volker
