Ah, the old Willie Victor. Flew on one out of Barbers Point one Saturday in 1971. Nice shots.

Connie1649, you say you flew on one in 1971? What was the occasion? Do you remember which squadron? Curious as AEW was disbanded in 1965 and our people, planes and ashes were spread around the globe. I flew out of there from '63 to '65 loved the old birds, plenty of character.

I do remember that it was 1971, late in the year. I believe the a/c was assigned to the Pacific Missle Test Range, and we hopped aboard on a 8 hour test hop, during which nothing happened due to the missle never showing up. Great crew, briefed us on whatever equipment they could, and cooked us a great steak supper. If I can recall any more details, I shall relate them. I was in Hawaii finishing up a tour in the Marines, and a couple of went over to The Point to see if we could get a ride in something. Worked out pretty well, I thought.

I definetaly miss the steak dinners. At Midway the persons assigned to be the cooks for the flight went to the mess hall and picked whatever he wanted, always had the best food on those 14 hour flights.

Just found an old, faded, cracked picture, not good enough to reproduce, that shows part of the back end of the ship I flew on. White top, silver bottom, and I think the last four digits are 5326. Pacific Missle Range is also on the tail, and Navy can be seen just forward of the round porthole on the starboard side. Two antenna wires to the right tail, and one wire to the center. I can also see 3 thin wire antennas sticking down under the tail, and one slim, round antenna just forward of the 3 wirw antennas. Thats all the detail I can see. Hope I can come out with the rest of the picture I took that day,.
