Midsummer evening flight from Texel (EHTX) to Lelystad (EHLE) in my beloved Tiger Moth.
Start up near the control tower. It's 25C, slight wind from the west and all blue skies.
There we go!
Starting the left turn to follow the exit pattern.
Looking back at Texel island. We are now over the Waddenzee at 700 ft, heading 090 for Friesland.
Just north of the Afsluitdijk near Kornwerderzand.
We turn right to follow the A7 to Bolsward and Sneek. No Nav-aids, this is flying with a 2002 car map and Mark I Eyeball.
Over Sneek we turn south for Lemmer.
The famous Frisian Lakes. This is the 'Heegermeer' and 'Fluessen'.
..and here we pass the Slotermeer with scenic Sloten village.
Approaching Lemmer. Dusk is settling in, but according flightplan, we should be at EHLE before sunset!
Over Lemmer. The lights on the A6 freeway to Emmeloord provide a good reference.
The Noord Oost Polder. This all used to be water once.
Approaching the fishing village of Urk with its' rotating lighthouse-beam clearly visible.
...and there comes the powerstation of Lelystad in view.
Turning inland and prepare for landing. We will contact Lelystad soon.
Over entry point 'Bravo', turning in into the standard appoach circuit.
Field in sight, turning downwind.
..and final.
Taxi-in after landing towards the Aviodrome-museum...
..where an old KLM 747 Classic 'PH-BUK' is on display since a couple of years.
Parking at the magnificent replica of the 1930-ties Schiphol terminal.
"Thanks for the ride, friend!".
