Hi, I already posted that everthing works fine for me with windows 7 but upgrading is not the best idea for this ,so i needed a new computer anyway. My system was build for windows 7 from the ground up and with a upgrade you always have some problems. I have a IntelCore2QUAD Q9550 4x2,83Ghz and a Nvidia GTS250 and a Asrock P45TS motherboard and i pul my sliders to the max and to unlimited frame rate and then it performs as silk . I love it when i fly on this system ;D The only problems that i encountered where the same as when i started flying on XP. I have al my classic airliners and the modern up and running Installing them went as smooth as silk. My advise is when you have a good system on XP don't upgrade but when you need a new one just give it a thought to go for 7 And the compatibility of other things is not bad becouse i am also running CFS2 and CFS3 on it whitout even one hitch . My regards Jan

Once upon a time, in more civilized times, you bought a PC and then you had to choose an OS to make your PC work... Nowadays you first buy an OS, and then you must put together a PC powerful enough to make said OS work... only boosting said power up to make it meet your needs about what kind of programs to use and their own need for CPU/RAM/HD/Video power. And all this is called " evolution" of the PC? I have my doubts it can be really defined such. It's not sterile polemic. At M$ they say that Xp is old and obsolete... but compared to what? The needs of the users or M$'s very own need to increase monetary income? Personally, without a real need for a different OS, I will not buy another, no matter how good other say this other is. WinXp fully satisfies all my actual needs. Of course in the future said needs may change, but as of now, I don't see the status quo changing. We'll see how things develop with time, I guess.

I had XP and i loved it but my system was not capable enough to cope with my addons . It was a old AGP single core system so that is why i have to buy another one. But then i have to tell you and that was were this discussion was about and that was of compatibility. This system has a very qiuck startup and i was pleased with how everthing is running .As i pointed out earlier if you got a nice system that works don't upgrade to 7 My regards and happy flying ;D

Hi guys
I think I need help. I now using windows 7 and FSX professional edition. I installed my favorite airplanes Tom´s and Greg´s DC6 B with Robert´s damage module and Manfred´s L1649 A version 2.1. and most features are working fine. I am enjoying the nice sceenerie with the traffic on the ground and the service cars. But some problems are there, only with these installed planes
1. The landing lights are down and on. I can see the shine on the ground, but only from the cockpit. At the outside look the ground is dark. 2. The noseweel of the L1649 A steers not correct (the same as before in FS9) 3. The enginefire at the *Conny* are little squares 4. I can hear the engine sound of the L1649A at the parking position, wenn all engines and all switches are off.
What is to do. Can somebody help me?

Hi, I have heard of almost all those problems in FSX, for various reasons and with various planes. 1. I believe this is true for all FS2004 planes in certain versions of FSX. 2. If it's the same as in FS2004, then the problem's still there. What do you mean by "not correct"? 3. Did you copy the textures into the Effects/texture folder? 4. Have you tried pressing Ctrl-F1 to turn off the fuel? Ctrl-F4 turns it back on again so you can start the engines. Hope this helps,

I think the problem in #4 is actually the sound.cfg and what FSX makes out of it. Depending on which one of the many many many that I have is in use for any of the R3350 engined airplanes I do get various sounds with the airplane cold and dark. Fuel pumps, starter engine ticking over without ignition....the lot.
Since I don't use FSX much I have never taken the time to dig further into the specific sound.cfg files
I thought the Nosewheel thing had been corrected for both FSX and Multiplayer use. But I would need to check...there is definitely no problem with it in V2.2 on a single FS9 PC running W7
The only problem that I have with W7 is with certain view switches from 2D to VC and Full Screen to Windowed with both versions of the sim. I believe there is a fix for that....just have not had the time to look into it.
Everything else I have in addons both payware and freeware works just fine.
I would however if a free upgrade to W7 from Vista is available definitely go for that. The OS is much lighter on the recources that Vista.....leaving more HP to run FS.

Thank you Tom and Stefan for your immediat response. I need a little bit more to find the right words.
With “not correct” I mean, that the nosewheel goes first straight ahead, while the nose of the plain turns right. But later on the wheel turns right too.
Yesterday I loaded down Manfreds L-749 (a fantastic work too). This nosewheel works fine.
But I have the same sound of engines in neutral (I mean the opposite of full power). And I tried Ctrl-F1 but the sound is there, although the engines are definitive off.
With the DC 6 B there are not such problems, except with the lights on the ground.
I think I made a mess with the sound files. I will test other solutions.
Greetings Werner
