Hello Garry!
Thank you so much! I hadn't expected the Biffo at all yet, so this is a huge and very welcome surprise.
Right now I am downloading the Super Freighter and I am eagerly looking forward to flying her.
I have many memories to the real ones as my auntie and uncle lived under the flight path to Rotterdam Airport (then Zestienhoven) where Freighters and Carvairs were a very common sight for many years.
Many thanks again.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy, Healthy New Year!
Cheers, Maarten

Maarten I hardly ever saw Bristol Freighters.....perhaps half a dozen times in my life and I'm 52. However Superfreighters I saw several times a day every day thundering over school and past my house. They used to train in the spring and in those days they actually shut an engine down to practice Then I could go into town and get the Airfix kit........I must have made dozens in my life. We use to put toches into the open nose of a night and turn the lights off. ;D Oh for those far off days of simple pleasures. The Superfreighter has always had a soft spot with me. Garry

Garry, actually most of the Bristol170s I saw were Superfreighters. I must have seen the first ones in 1956 when I was 4 years old. They used to fly very low over the houses of the extreme northern part of Rotterdam. I was used to the sounds of the Convair, DC-3s, -4s and 6s, and (Super) Connies because they flew rather low in front of our house in Amsterdam on finals to Schiphol rwy 21 (by then). Compared to those types the Bristols (and also the Vikings) had a very loud, rough sound. That was all right at daytime, but when these bu****s flew over when I was in my bed at my auntie's and uncle's, they would scare the hell out of the wee boy I was. The very last Bristol 170 I ever saw was the ex-Canadian Mk.31 at the classic Fly In at Lydd, just a week or so before it crashed. Cheers, Maarten

Ah yes...that was the one that before going to Canada it was with Instone as G-BISU.
I would think most of the Superfreighters you saw were the Southend fleet....ex Channel Air Bridge where as with me it was The Silver City originals. They only really mixed them in the BAF days and by then there were only about 2 ex SCA and four ex CAB plus two three with CAT

Hello Gary, I just took her for a flight and she behaves very nice. Same as with Maarten, I have seen them many times on Rotterdam/Zestienhoven.One of my first airplanes pictures I took was actually a Superfreighter. Perhaps already known, but you can find some nice demo movies ( Freighters) on the following links : www.henrytenby.com/DVDs/Bristol1dvd.htmlwww.henrytenby.com/DVDs/Bristol2dvd.htmlOnly one small remark about the version : Bristol 170_32_CFL This one has no sound map, simple copied it from the other version. Best regards, Hans.

HI Hans
Yep I've seen those...great eh!! ;D
Are you in FS.X?? if you are then the shared may not be working properly...I'm in FS9 and someone else assembled the FS.X pacjage but another person has had a problem.
The sound and panel is shared so it's not in the CFE either but copying it you will have copied the file to share it so it would, in theory, work.
If you're FS.9 then there should have been no problem.

Hi Garry,
I just tried the Super Freighter and I must say it is outstanding. I sure hope at some point you'll find the time despite your challenges to finish it off with a VC...that would make it absolutely perfect.
I flew a relatively short flight yesterday but could not find any flaws with it at all. Handling and visuals are truly great...so I'll have to make an exception to my own rule and mark this as a keeper even without a VC.
As for the sound not working...the entire folder which contains the sound.cfg is simply missing from one of the models. So there is no link to the shared folder in that one case. Simply copy the sound folder from the other one that works into this one and everything is working.
Thanks again for a great addition to my fleet.
Stefan

Hi Stefan Glad you like it The sound and panel are in neither models folder. They are seperate and the panel and sound folders in each model point to that folder so I don't see how you had it in one...is this the FS.X? You put the two model folders and the two shared folders in the Aircraft folder and that gives the sounds and panels to both. As to VC.....no I don't like VC's and NEVER use them. It would mean me undestanding systems.....which I don't ;D and coding then spending perhaps over a thousand hours making something that I would just delete from any model I flew. You may not realise but I have no interest in being a pilot and recreate my historic memories in 3D. When I fly, which is rarely, I usually do from the outside as much as possible and the 2D for take off's and landings So sorry...no VC's from me

Hi Garry,
you still need to have a sound and panel folder in each of the aircraft folders. And in each of those is a single cfg file sound / panel which tells the sim where to find the actual sound or panel files are located.
In one of the two models in your original zip this sound folder was missing that is all.
FS version makes no difference in this case.
As for the VC... sorry to hear that but since it is a wonderful airplane otherwise I'll gladly "overlook" that in this case. I had wrongly assumed that this was the reason you called it WIP ...there doesn't seem to be anything else missing ;D ;D
Stefan
ps it is the Bristol170_32_CL folder that in the zip did not have a sound folder.
