L749 Flying Dutchman to South Africa. Departure at Amsterdam. First stopover, Frankfurt, bad weather.. Enroute over the Alpes.. Landed in Rome, weather gets better.. Next stop, Cairo!

Nice man, you are doing the opposite of me, i am at LFBL in france at the moment. comming from capetown. I also use the KLM Connie. Enjoy the trip and be prepared for allot of boring sand flats in the north of Africa. Rememer to make many screenies

Climbing thru turbulent weather after the Rome departure Passing Brindisi, finally the overcast dissapears.. I post these while flying.. route will bring us over Crete, to Cairo, and then deep into '59 Africa!

Above Corfu at the remains of the day.. citylights.. dinner.. We will arrive late in the evening in Cairo, lets hope we see the pyramids and Nasser ? Listening to the news.. a tragic accident happened..

Nice screenies, especially the 'Enroute over the Alpes' ones, and after looking at your route I might try flying it too.

Thanks for the compliments.. the voyage continues.. The next day early in the morning we depart to Khartoum. The Nile at dawn.. Some place in the dessert After miles and miles of dessert.. finally our destination.. Khartoum! Now, we will stay here for a while, after the newyear the voyage continues. Next stop: Malabo

When you get to Johannesburg, see if you can spot the Starliner belonging to the South African Airways Museum Society. It's on SAA Technical ground, adjacent to the domestic terminal. I visited it a couple of months ago.
