Guys, does anyone know how to change the way you spawn? I now allways spawn with the engines running, but i just love to manualy start my engines. Any way to change this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Sure. Get the plane in exactly the way you like for startup, and Save a Flight. If you check the box Make this your Default Flight then when FS starts that will be what you will get.
If you normally start with the default Cessna at Sea Tac flight, just load that flight, get the plane the way you like it, and save with a new name (like "My Default Flight") and check the default box. That will become your new default flight upon startup.
Hope this helps,

Hi, the way I do it is to go to the default airport with the default plane, select the aircraft that I want, shut everything down, save the flight, and name it for the aircraft I currently have selected. So when I go to select a flight, I'm selecting MAAM DC3 or B247, or DC6B-CB17 or whatever you like. Once you have selected the flight, you can go to select aircraft again and change it to whatever livery you have for that type. The only thing to be aware of, is that when you change the livery, FS9 will turn on your magnetos, so you will have to shut them off if you want everything off when you start your new flight. There's nothing you can do about that that I know of. The only way to avoid it is to have a selection for every livery of every aircraft that you fly saved as a flight, which is rather cumbersome. I just shut them off before I start the flight planning process. If you have a favorite flight do the same, plan the flight, get your aircraft where you want it and save the flight; next time you fly just select KJFK or WSSS or what have you. I hope this answers your question.

Hmm i think i am being tired, as it it a little unclear, does this trick also work in spawning in multiplayer? As that is the only way i fly.

This only works when you load FS. You cannot "automatically shut down all engines and reset all switches" where you happen to be at the moment.
Of course you can reload that flight any time you want, but you will now be in that plane at that airport.
Hope this helps,

Please tell me what does 'spawn' mean in this context? Fish spawn, but that's surely not what you're talking about here?
cheers Thomas

Spawn is to (re)appear in the gameworld. For example *I spawned at gate 16* that means that when i press start and the game was done loading i appeared (spawned) at gate 16. I hoe this litttle example made it clear for you what spawning means

I just save the current situation as the default flight and I'm back
Failing that save as whatever name and call that in on loading the some
Thanks for the explanation of spawn above as I had no idea what that meant

There is a way to have multiple spawns on your desktop for different aircraft. You just have to click on it's icon and FS2004 starts up with your selection. It's rather easy.
1. Start FS2004.
2. When you are in the Cessna change to the aircraft desired. I'll use the Lyon's Luscombe as an example.
3. Move the aircraft to the airport and gate/parking spot you desire.
4. Set everything to a cold start. I like to be outside the aircraft before I start so I can see it before I get in.
5. Now save the flight as 'Lusc'.
6. Exit the flight and Go to FS2004 Folder. Copy FS9.exe to Flight Simulator 9/1033 folder (for convenience).
7. Rename FS9.exe to Lusc.exe and copy it into the FS2004 folder.
8. Copy the Lusc.exe file from the FS2004 folder and save as a shortcut to your desktop.
9. Go to your Documents and Settings/.......FS9 directory and create a temp folder.
10. Copy the FS9.cfg file to the temp folder and rename it Lusc.cfg. Open the file and go down to the Situation line and change the last line item from FS9 to Lusc.
11. Copy the Trip.cfg file to the FS9 folder.
I know that sounds a bit complicated but once you get the hang of it you can create a startup flight with it's own icon on the desktop in just a couple of minutes. Of course each desktop icon must have a different name, like the aircraft type.
Just make sure everything has the same name, 'Lusc' in this example.
I have a dozen different aircraft startups for all three of my FS installations; 36 in all.
Since each aircraft now has it's very own .cfg file you can set them for customized weather or panel configurations or whatever for that particular flight.
I have created about 60 aircraft icons for this purpose to use on the desktop. If any of you would like to have them they can be downloaded from Flightsim.com. The filename is icons-1.zip.
