Yes, it seems so! Who is this WOWPOSTER???
And Tom, you should lock down the forum as Randy W did at Classiflight! No one should be able to see any post until they're registered.
Hard landings for this wowposter! ;D

I noticed the Spammer as soon as I logged on this morning. He is hitting all the topics....I sent a PM to Tom just in case he has not seen them yet. I consider this to be on a par with junk telephone calls from telemarketers. This WOWPower has absolutely nothing to do with Cal Classic nor Propliners.

Hi all,
I have deleted all of his posts, and he is now banned (by IP, username, and email address). Let me know if I missed any.
There is little I can do to avoid this kind of spamming, unless I moderate all application requests. And this won't do much good, since I don't know everyone who wants to join. If they want to take the time to manually sign up (as opposed to using bots), I can only clean up after their "work" is done... Fun, huh?

They're all around, aren't they, Tom? Too bad this guy had to come over here and fuss about.
The only reason why I can get away with locking down my forum is like Tom said; I do know who is registering(most of the time), and with fewer users, it's a lot easier to keep track of. Not sure that would work for Tom's site. . .
Tom, not sure what it would be, but if I can help, you know where I am.

I don'tget the nature of spammers, often they are unapologetic about what they do. Most of their garbage seems to be sexual in nature - which even myself, as a unabashed libertine - have problems with. If you want to go see that stuff, it's not like it needs advertising, it's everywhere. I can be frank and a bit on the boorish side with other "guys" - we have a lot of old soldiers on here and I bet they can tell stories that would make us all turn beet red, but that has its time and place - like over a beer or two once the kids are in bed. It shouldn't be here. Unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, these jerks manage to get through somehow. We get them on RetroAI about every three months or so. The number has reduced since I tightened up the posting rules, but there have been some who beat that. Just the hazars of the Internet, I guess.
