There is a new Convairliner at the horizon. The Convair CV-240 VBF reloaded by VIRTUAL BIRDS FACTORY[/color][/b] is a new model line based on the Convair CV-240 model originally created by Greg Pepper and Tom Gibson.
The Convair CV-240 VBF reloaded has a stretched fuselage and a new tail fin to match the proportions of the real aircraft. Because of that, the reloaded model files and textures are not compatible with the original Calclassic Convair and vice versa. Still, we are very glad about having got all the necessary permissions from Tom Gibson for modifying and using some of the original Calclassic’s files and textures. Thank you Tom supporting our project.
With the first Base Pack comes the Convair CV-240 VBF CA-18 with flight dynamics for the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 CA-18 engine in Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation House Livery from 1947. Other liveries and model files will follow.
The second Base Pack will bring you the Convair CV-240 VBF CB-16 variant with Pratt & Whitney R-2800 CB-16 engines and includes the visual model and textures for a Convair CV-240-1 of Western Airlines, registration N8404H, with ventral staircase.
The main goal of the VBF team, however, was to create the military variants of the Convair 240. The last T-29 at flightsim.com was published for FS98. With the third Base Pack, the friends of military aircraft will get a CT-29A operated in the sixties by the USAF 7405th Support Sqdn in Europe, as a spy aircraft in the Cold War. Step by step, a nearly complete range of T-29 “Flying Classroom” and VT-29 aircraft will be published.
To complete the portfolio, the friends of MATS and USCG will also get some new equipment. There will be special models for the C-131A and HC-131A variants with a large moving cargo door in the portside rear fuselage.
And don’t forget the ET-29C of both the AACS/AFCS and the Federal Aviation Agency. It will come with a short nose and with a radar button nose including an array of special flight inspection aerials.
A fourth package will install Panel & Sound for all variants of the Convair CV-240 VBF reloaded. You have to install it only once for all the 3 Base Packs. Both the panel and the sounds are identical with the corresponding files coming with Calclassic’s Convair, but for your convenience and forward compatibility they will be saved in separate folders.
(Modified September 07, 2010 VBF-HH, please also have a look here: calclassic.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=3126 )
About 25 different model files are being prepared for the rollout. All models except the models with ventral stairs will have a moving passenger door or service door in the port side rear fuselage. We will have models with short nose, button nose (aftermarket radar) and long nose (CV-440 style radar equipment). Also, a wide range of civil and military liveries are ready for upload. They will be made available one after the other in the next few months, each including the adequate 3D model file.
You can be sure of one thing: Everybody will find his (or her) Convair darling! So stay tuned!
Cheers
