I really have a hard time downloading from AVSIM.com.
I can download one or two files and then I keep getting a message that Internet Explorer can't display the page. Then have to shut down the browser and re-start it to get another file. This has been happening to me for months.
This morning I was trying to get the four files needed for the PSA Electra. I was only able to get two of them AVSIM and searched Flightsim.com to get the other two.
Also, the files I downloaded from AVSIM only came in at 12k/sec while those from Flihgtsim.com came in at 118k/sec.
Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with AVSIM.com?

I have the same problem Noel. Most of the time when I log on to Avsim, I usually get a slow download. I don't know if it their server being overloaded, or if they have a programming problem. If possible, I usually use Flightsim.com for much faster downloads.

It does seem to be just traffic. Here in Oz (GMT+10), I have found that download speed is noticeably slower when the good folk on the other side of the world are up and about - so I just pick a time when they are all abed MikeW

Noel, I've never experienced the problem you're describing. As for downloading from the mentioned sites, Flightsim 'most always operates at about 30-34 kbps no matter the time of day. AVSIM, on the other hand, gives 400+kbps if I wait for the wee hours to capture the downloads I want. During "normal" hours here in the US, I find AVSIM is also in the low 30's range. Hope I haven't given my secret to fast downloads! Regards, the other Tom

Being to get fast downloads is the best thing about working Graveyard. No matter the site it's always better in the wee small hours...

But slow downloads are not the only problem I have wiht AVSIM. I can download2, or maybe 3, files before I get the dreaded "Internet Explorer cannot display this page". Then It's impossible for me to download any other files until I shut down the browser and log on again. That's pretty annoting.

Hi, Noel, I have a really good connection via cable, but I've noticed a slowdown in recent weeks, too. I guess gas prices and retirement funds aren't the only things lost in the "madness". As Douglas Adams put it... "Don't panic." Yours,

Noel, are you using some kind of download manager? Try turning that off first.
Also, keep in mind that AVSIM will only let you download around 3 or 4 files at one time. After that it tells you you can't download any more. Perhaps IE is interpreting this message as "cannot display"? After the downloads are finished you can continue downloading more files.
The other thing to try is a different browser, like Firefox.
Hope this helps,
