I took my F27 for a spin around the desert west today using the real weather out of PHX 118F today. I had the fuel trimmed out to 20 percent and even with methanol I was hard pressed to keep the JPT under 800c. Is engine failure modeled if you cook the turbines too long? Anyway is was fun to see how sluggish this plane flys in hot high weather! Great job. I think it might be my new fav plane!

Yup my fav! Did the Airwest 575 hop from BOI via TWF,SLC,CDC,PGA,VLE,PRC,PHX. Downloaded the weather for the PHX duststorm to boot. We shall see if I make it in to PHX.... Drew

I believe that Bonanza bought the F-27A with its more powerful engines because so many of its stations (LAS, PHX , Blythe, Yuma and El Centro) had more than a few days of really high temps. If I remember correctly, there was a period a few years back that PHX was virtually closed due to high temps as most of the aircraft performance charts did not go that high, thus operations were not authorized. Even with the uprated engines, a heavy load on a really hot day is a challenge. With the trim at zero and a wet T/O, my flight manual says you still have to watch the temps closely, and don't forget the oil temps as well. Turn off the pressurization, A/C and the deice generators (they're probably overheating anyway) to get every last bit of power. And yes, you can "cook" the engines with Fraser's panel if you don't follow the book. If you want a summertime challenge, here's a copy of the Bonanza time table from 1963. Hy

Always fun trying to get off at PHX or LAS when the temps are over 100 F...

Try getting out of L35 on the same day with a modest piston pounder .... also a very interesting thing to do I do have one minor question regarding the functionality of the checklist when it comes to the fuel trim. I think I am doing the calculation correctly....but would not bet the farm on it either...and I can't get the checklist to give me the green light that it is indeed set OK. I have gone up and down in 1% steps from where I thought it should be and still no luck. Any pointers on that one for me ?? Cheers Stefan

Fraser doesn't have FS.X and there is no indication that that will change.

Where can one download the F-27A and FH-227A panel and re-paints shown here? I tired the link at the top of the page, but it's dead.
Thanks,
Rich Boll

Hi Fraser,
I have a question about the landing and taxi lights, I'm using your new F-27 V6 panel on the Cal Classic F27A model, but the taxi and landing lights are not working. I can see the taxi lights on the external view, the landing lights work but they don't extend and they both don't work from the 2D cockpit view at all.
Any sugestion?
Best Juan.

AFAIK, the CalClassic model's lights are not compatible with Fraser's panel, since it wasn't designed for it. Most of the rest should work OK, though.
