Hi all,
I have been working on an enhancement for the AI aircraft - the touchdown "chirp" of the tires, and the roar of the engines when reverse pitch/thrust is engaged. This is possible because you can attach a sound to the effect that causes the tire smoke at touchdown.
Thanks to Wolfgang who brought this to my attention, and alpha tested this.
Now this beta requires that every AI aircraft.cfg file must be changed to list the proper touchdown effects file, so if you want to beta test this you will need to download files #1-5 of the AI Package (the aircraft) and install them again. You will also need to download and install the MATS package (if you use it) and the Miscellaneous aircraft too (again, if you use them).
This package is designed for those that just use the default AI sounds (or a freeware addon). But some of you may be using FSHotSFX (or FSHotSeat) to provide AI sounds - I do. However, it does *not* supply reverse sounds for piston aircraft, and the touchdown chirp is rarely well synched with the actual touchdown. This package will fix both of those problems, and make it even better.
This beta test package is not an automatic installer, so you will need to know how to rename, copy, and paste files. You may also need to edit files in Wordpad if you do not choose the default installation.
The questions I have for you all is:
1. Do you want your AI aircraft to make these sounds? (I.e. do you want me to install these in the default aircraft zip files?)
2. Do the sounds work for you?
3. Do the wav file names I chose have the same name as other wav files already in your Sound folder from other authors?
4. Do you like the sounds I provided?
5. Any ideas to make them better?
I have supplied the default "idle" sounds I use, in case you want to try them out. They sort of "match" the reverse sounds I used. It includes a piston idle sound from my Propsound package, a turboprop idle sound which combines Dart and Allison sounds together (i.e. a compromise), and a JT3D jet sound that's just like I remember the old jets.
Let me know what you think, please.
You can download the package here:

Remember you also have to download and install the aircraft over again.
Thanks,
