This thing about era's is a personal taste issue I think, that is why I started doing my own separate ones and deciding which era I want to fly before starting the sim.
One thing it does teach you if starting your own is you realise just how much work has gone in to the Cal Classic project, all those models, flight plans & scenery plus a lot of research.
But going back to what you class as a classic, is it a bit like automobiles, as the years roll by eventually the ones you remember being new as a kid become classic?

Hi again,
Much of the late 60's and early 70's are already available. Flight plans are available at retroai.org, and AI planes at various places (often specified in the RetroAI flight plan files). A question on their forum usually yields someone finding it for you.
Hope this helps,

Having just made my own retro OYAA Khormaksar (Aden) with Instant Scenery, I discovered there was already a very good one at Sim-Outhouse (see thread at www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?threadid=2913 and their download sceneries). As far as I can see it's pretty good (and when I overlaid it with mine they were very close to each other!). What seems to be missing is the Hawker Hunter parking bays, partitioned physically rom one another. I've made a period WSSS Changi using Instant Scenery libraries only and within limits of information on hand. I will package it over the next couple of nights and put it up for download. It requires a real mix of libraries, including Ted Andrews' new FS9 RAF buildings.

For those who expressed an interest, www.ukmil.org.uk/ is back 'up'. The AI models can be a little tricky to find but, from memory: Chipmunk and Jet Provost are found in the 'Old Download site' -> UKMIL Freeware -> AI Aircraft Vulcan model is in the Waddington V-Force era. Meteor is in the 'New Download site'. Other models are included in Scenery packages. Confused yet?! I think some of these downloads require you to register. My pet project is a scarily simple Afcad of the Central Flying School fields of Little Rissington and South Cerney, where fixed wing and rotary training was done, plus flightplans for the JP and Chipmunk. Simple stuff, but as has already been mentioned, for realism I've got some hops to other miltary strips - Fairford, Brize Norton, Manston etc. and the defaults have no parking. Cue yet more Afcads and military airfields crying out for traffic of their own - a yuletide snowball effect!

Yes, I tried and tried to join but the register page kept returning, I eventually did register now I'm waiting for the activation email, I read on the site their emailing is having problems so they are using another one.

If anybody still interested in Burtonwood, try www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=9210Good aerials and chart. With the motorway M62 photograph and Google Earth you should be able to position Burtonwood exactly. Burtonwood was also the main radio range on Amber 1 between London and Scotland until about the mid-50's. I think. Other good old UK military site history on here as well. Bill

I've been trying to recreate some Belgian Air Force traffic lately, but I still lack a bit in sources about period routes and stuff. Thankfully there's Manfred's Pembroke, and Jaap's textures for it; with it, I've got all the right types for the transport traffic. (C-47, C-54, C-118, C-119 and Pembroke).
Might take a while before I got something somewhat accurate, though...
