Expected to be flying again in late 2010 and back on the line for Lufthansa Historic Berlin in 2011. They also fly D-AQUI the Ju-52/3m which is the most solidly booked out flight on the entire Lufthansa schedule Estimated cost for the restauration from this article is 20 Million Euros. Or $25,389,893.55 at todays exchange rates ;D The cool thing is that Azubi's or apprentices in the aviation field currently employed by Lufthansa Techink are part of the team in Auburn and instead of working on the usual kerosene burners get to lay their hands on a truly magnificent piece of aviation history and learn skills that otherwise would only come up in the class room once or twice. I'll have to make sure my mom saves that Stern magazine for me.

I am so glad they are doing such a full restoration of this baby. This thing has the potential to fly at 100 years old with their TLC. Oh .... and their $$$$ Don

Well if D-AQUI is any indication then she should be fine for at least that long. I had the pleasure of flying in Tante-Ju a few years back when one of the LH captains I know fairly well was selected from the many volunteers for the summer schedule. I better start saving money or miles now to get on the Starliner when she is ready
