Is possible to create 2 FS9 installs as I would like one to have the classic traffic and airports and the other install to have the modern ones?

Hi, Yes, it's quite easy. First, you have to decide which copy should have the Windows registry pointing to it. Automated installers (like mine) and other sophisticated addons will point their installations to this copy. Keep in mind that mine can always be pointed to the other install quite easily (press the ... button and browse to it). If you want the new installation to have the registry pointing to it, just install FS9 again to a different folder name. If you want the registry pointing to the original installation, do this: 1. Rename your existing FS folder by adding Original to the folder name. 2. Install FS again, using the folder name you used when you installed it the first time (i.e. the folder name without Original added). Now you have to make a choice. Do you want both installations to share an fs9.cfg file, and/or do you want them to share the listing of your saved Flights? 1. If you say yes to both questions, you are done. Both installations will use the existing fs9.cfg file, as well as the existing folder of saved flights. 2. If you want them to have separate cfg files, rename the fs9.exe file in the copy you want to have the new cfg file. For example, rename it to classic.exe. If you want a brand new cfg file, just double click your new classic.exe and a new classic.cfg file will be created. If you want to use a copy of the old one, make a copy of your existing fs9.cfg file and rename it classic.cfg (again, for example). The name of the exe and cfg file must match. 3. If you want to have a separate folder for your saved flights, you must use a modified language.dll, like what is found in Golden Wings or in my Classic FS package: www.calclassic.com/files/Classic_dll.zipHope this helps,

Commander31; I am running three FS9 installations, Golden Wings and vintage files exclusive for use through to about 1945, another with Silver Wings (and all the CalClassic files, good to about 1966) and a seldom used modern installation. A number of members here have similar setups.
Tom's directions are spot on as always and if H-D space is not an issue than multiple installations are a great idea.

Thanks Tom! I also have three installations (same periods as Chris) and I spend most of my time in the sixties version. Most of what I knew about multiple installations was nutted out from the "Golden Wings" procedure, but I was lost as to how to make a separate "saved flights" folder. So that DLL is a gift!

Like a "D" instead of a "C" install?

I don't think so, unless you are running both at the same time (which is impossible).

Hi,
EVP only works with the copy currently in the registry.
If you want EVP to work with the other copy, AFAIK you only have two choices:
1. Make your changes, and then copy the changed GVP file from the other copy into this one (found in the main SOUND folder).
2. Use the Flight1 FS2004 Registry tool to point to the new copy instead. Use this tool to point the registry to the required copy as needed.
Hope this helps,
