Taking a break from the addictive Starliner and "rediscovering" Tom and Greg's great Convairs.
Convair 440
The visual model in FSX including prop disks look great. No problems here which is impressive considering how more recently designed FS9 models have issues porting over to FSX.
Question re manual engine start up using the KMCC panel and FSX conversion files. One part of the instructions indicates this might be possible. Followed these carefully but no luck with manual start up. Have to use Ctrl E which is no where nearly as fun/rewarding.
However, this suggests that manual start up is not possible in FSX.
Convair 580
I appreciate the Convairs were never designed for FSX but am curious whether anyone has tried a port over conversion. Again the visual model looks perfect but there are a lot of older gauges that cause a long string of those irritating gauge compatitibility warning messages (thank you MS - let's ditch that one on FS 11 please!!). If not, I might try to swap out the older gauges and see if that works.
Regards and thanks for running this great site.

Starting and Stopping Engines
To start the engines, first you MUST turn on the Boost Pump (these are electric fuel pumps) - the engines won't start without them! Second, use the Engine Selector knob to select the desired engine to start (the typical sequence was 2-1). Now press the START switch - the PRIME, and (ignition) BOOST switches will automatically throw at the same time. Allow the MAP to go below ambient before throwing the proper MAGNETO knob to BOTH (3 clicks on +); the engine will then come to life and you will hear the engine start up. The START switch must be in the OFF position before selecting another engine; it will turn off automatically or you may turn it off yourself.

FSX Panel compatibility:
The KMCC panels (DC-6, DC-7, CV-240, CV-340) are compatible with FSX. Follow the instructions in the FSX Conversion folder for details. You should also follow the instructions on the Propliner Tutorial page for correcting the zoom and view out the windows. The engine start gauges will not work - use Ctrl-E to start the engines.
