Good Evening:
I am just getting started trying to understand / fly propliners. I have read and tried to digest the Propliners tutorial but am still having two (2) basic problems: (BTW- This is in FSX)
(1) I will takeoff no real problems, climb for a bit, 5,000~ 6,000 ft. and then all of sudden, the aircraft will stall (w/ an indicated airspeed of ~150 knts.) and plummet to the ground. This is with a very lightly loaded aircraft as well relative to cargo & fuel)
(2) At any altitude (even as high as FL220) I can not get an indicated airspeed higher than ~175 knts.
If the answer is in the tutorial with regard to both of these issues, I sincerely apologize; I am just not picking up on it.
Thanks so much in advance for your help,
Dave

Hi,
is your mixture set right ? maybe too rich a mixture is causing the downward trajectory.
if you 'slew' to FL 220 it may be you have too much fuel still on board. As you'll find in FSAviators wonderful tutorials it used to take hours to get to the final flight level, burning off fuel and trying to remain patient while accelerating so as to climb the next thousand feet or so !
maybe there are high winds coming at you ?
Good luck.
Andy.

AT this point it sounds like you might have the 2002 version installed. Check your dc6 folder for the dates of the air file. You should have an air file date of 7/27/2008 (the latest). If not, download the dc-6b United airlines from this web site and reinstall making sure that the proper exe is selected.
Then you can copy the Air file to the folder of your favorite dc-6b and the aircraft config after backing up the config in your target folder. Copy the aircraft section(s) in the old cfg and paste them into the new cfg and you should be all set.

Hi,
Also, as you go higher your indicated airspeed will DECREASE (the true airspeed should increase). So 175 KIAS is not unusual at high altitudes.
Try turning on Automixture in the Aircraft/Realism menu and see if that helps.
