Hi,
the last airport on the Kangoroo route is ready and can be downloaded from Avsim.
A special thanks to Jaap de Baare and Tom Gibson. Without your help and inspiration, it would never be done. Also I have to thank Adrian Wainer for an outstanding research job. The route is: London-Frankfurt-Rome-Beirut-Tehran-Karachi- Calcutta-Bangkok-Singapore-Darwin-Sydney and as extension Auckland and Nadi.
The filename is oiii_1960_tehran_mehrabad_intl.zip
Best Regards
Wolfgang

Thanks so much for all these airports, I have them all installed. I enjoy flying the Kangaroo route, so having these airports adds to the enjoyment. I know we all appreciate all the work you've put into them. On a related note, I was recently flying this route, I think it was the leg to Bangkok, and there was an AI Hermes on the same route with me. I've searched the BOAC timetables and haven't been able to find one on this route. Did they indeed fly this route, if so, when?

Hi Dutch, sure it was a BOAC Hermes? I did find an Airworks Hermes with VTBD as destination in the World_1962 flightplan, so maybe it was that one (providing you're running the '62 traffic layer, that is - if not, it probably wasn't that one... )

Hi,
The BOAC Hermes are only flying cargo in 1957 and 1959, if I recall correctly. As Nikko suggests, you probably saw a charter airline Hermes flying a trooping mission.

One of the things I do when on a long flight is to go to VC mode, raise my eyepoint above the aircraft and zoom in on AI aircraft just to see who is around me (must be the OS in me; always have to know what's going on around me at all times). I was flying a BOAC Argonaut and there was a BOAC Hermes going the other way, which I thought was odd, because I had been reading the time table and hadn't seen any Hermes except to Africa.

Hi,
Sometimes the AI aircraft will be flying in the wrong part of the world, nowhere near their planned route. I don't know why...

Wolfgang Many thanks for yet another excellent addition to our Retro Scenery library. If anyone is interested, I've just posted on the Retro AI site [ www.retroai.org and go to "Interim Flight Plan Archive" on the forum] a set of AI plans for Iran Air for the Winter of 1966/67 which I thought would complement the "new" scenery well. Richard.

Hey Wolfgang and Calclassic,
Thanks for the retro airports scenery. Been downloading all the ones for the Kangoroo route, Now I am off in DC-7B for the land of OZ.
One question: I have the Lax of 59, but the concourses are all a white color. Back in those day they were a dark green color with the exception of concourse A, where a open ended building was built over the existing fenced walk way sometime in the late 50s.
The white color, is it from me not loading it correct or was it designed this way.
Again, Thanks Jim
