The pain in my joints will not allow sleep. What better, then to grind along J 90 for MSP on the route I know so well from flying it and commuting to base for NCA/RC/NWA. Rather than up at 350 we're in and out of the tops at 130 where we should be with the R-2800's purring as no other engine ever has. I am constantly amazed at the quality of this simulation. It at least equals and in many ways exceeds the simulators we had at Northwest. Certainly the old DC-9 simulator located at the freight terminal for NCA/MSP, WA's 727 sim that would climb at 4,000 FPM with the gear down, stairs extended and 40 flaps. The only thing we are missing, other than access to all of the systems, is full motion. But neither do I have 30 million dollars invested in my equipment either.
To all of you who create this, yes, magic, I take my hat off to you! Well done indeed.
Trig (Johnston) Capt/NWA

If that isn't a great compliment I'll (almost) eat my hat. Cheers, Maarten

Hi Trig,
I am honored that you think so, and I'm glad that we did such a good job. Not being pilots ourselves, I always wonder how close we really get. Sorry to hear about your medical problems, but I'm happy that we can be of help.
Take care,

Welcome Aboard! Another former "Herman" alum is always welcome. I worked ground in KIWD for North Central 68-72. I now live in KPDX and work for Horizon. I have many times flew on that Sea-Tac - KMSP red-eye, when I went home to visit (KDLH or KMKE).
Take Care,

Been on that route a few times myself. From the DC-4 and Stratocruiser to the 737 and 757 of today. Dad flew for Southern and I worked in
KMEM for 35 years with Southern, Republic and Northwest.

Yes, and before flying the Red Eye's I used to load them. Worked ramp at ORD in 66, the ramp & OPS in PDX for CO, then same in SEA & LAX. PDX was the best. That was a great job back in the day of the Real Proud Birds.

97 DME W of HLN 17,000 enjoying another Red Eye to MSP. Just had a thought... have each of you read Ernie Gann's "Fate Is The Hunter?" I know you enjoy flying the round engine's... and that means you would love his book.

Indeed. First read a borrowed copy many years ago then picked up the recently republished edition last time I was at the Seattle MoF shop. I particularly like the fact that although obviously a great pilot himself, he gave all the credit for his survival to lady luck and to the great people he was fortunate to work alongside and learn from.

Hi,
I assume as it's SEA-MSP it would be Northwest, and with R2800's that would probably be a DC-6B.
