The descriptive text states that it is from 1942 but the film has a something of a pre-hostilities look. At 13:13:22 the date is shown, 8-10-41, which is indeed before the US entering the war.

I think the fighters were either P-36s or P-43s, both predecessors of the P-47.

Chris, Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. I think the fighters were either P-36s or P-43s, both predecessors of the P-47. Art One of the fighters was a Curtiss P-36, a predecessor of the Curtiss P-40, not the Republic P-47.

I didn't know they had developed the airway system "highways", or the east west, odd even altitude variations at that time. Very interesting.
