Will the L049a from FSDzíngs.com be updated like the L1649a With vc?
I attempted to install the vc into it by copying the relevant textures into an experimental texture,I used, of the L049a; I was just trying...Nothing happened. the textures didn't copy I got a clear screen when trying to open vc I seem to have read sometime ago here in the forum during the developing stages of the L1649 that there was interest in updating the L049a.

Copying the textures over from another plane is hardly enough to have a VC on a plane born without. You MUST edit the model to add the VC, and seen that the source code of the model of the L-049 ( I read) was lost... you're not going to have a VC on that plane any time soon. Don't shoot on the bearer of bad news.

Hi,
It appears it is never going to happen, unfortunately. When John White died Kent Morris tried to get a CD of files from his wife, but she knew nothing about computers. She had a neighbor put together a CD, but he didn't know what we needed and it turned out there was nothing usable on the CD. Kent tried contacting her again without success. It looks like it's gone forever...
Sorry,

I think the best bet is probably to cross fingers that Manfred and team have a heart and continue to work their way through the entire Connie line. With the L-1649A completely spoiling every Connie lover it's hard to step back into "lesser" simulations. ;D
It's kind of like getting back into your first car after having driven a really nice late model one. Yes you loved that old clunker back then...you just can't pick up a date on your bicycle. But it just can't compete with a shiny new one.

...way I see it the 049 is still a great flying experience. She sure set the mark high for modeling and textures. That 2d panel really works well.
I guess the chances of getting a short nose 1049c are next to nuthin' ... But Air france, that's what they flew.
Anybody know of a paintkit for the Alpha connie?

I still play with all my old toys - I still have great fun with Mike Stone's L1049 and have no plans to send it to my "virtual scrapyard". I think my happiness with older models probably stems from a personal lack of interest in "virtual cockpits" - this seems to be the factor that drives the desire for newer models.
So the hole in the Constellation market to me is a true L749, although I know there are several repaints of the 049 to get by with.
John
PS - I am not trying to start a for/against VC argument but if this is going to develop into a discussion on this Tom would probably appreciate it going in a separate thread.

I still fly Mike Stone's at times too, but with a US Navy C-121 paint I did and the vnConnie20 panel and flight model.

I have to agree with John.
The Starliner is a truly outstanding work of art but it has certainly not spoiled me for any of the other superb models here.
Not owning FSX and making no use of virtual cockpits, the FSDezigns L-049 sits wingtip to wingtip with the Starliner in my estimation.
To each his own of course.
